Hi everyone!

I recently bought some new chrome Italia FA classic look (closed) rims for my V90. I bought with it a new Michelin S83 3.00 - 10 tyre and the recommended 90 degree valve inner.

The issue I'm having is that the valve holes in the larger side of the rim are at such an angle that I cant put the valve through both holes. The only way I can see the valve fitting through would to be either try to very slightly adjust (bend) either the valve or the rim...I didn't want to do anything stupid so I thought I'd ask her to see if anyone has had the same problem / knows the best and safest way round this issue.

I have attached a photo which hopefully helps illustrate the problem!

You need to enlarge the hole the same as the outside diameter of the valve stem (rubber part) for it to fit. Just make sure you round the edges after drilling so you don't puncture the rubber on the stem or the tube. F.A. Italia parts are a bit crap nowadays, but what can you do...

I'm told that FA Italia produces many parts for Piaggio, so when you see things described as 'genuine Piaggio', quite often they are FA Italia

You haven't experienced frustration until you've tried putting one of those through the the rim of a Super. The angle is nowhere near close.

You should feel lucky that those lug bolt holes line up. I had a set of FA rims (the same as yours but not chrome) and the bolt holes were so out of alignment that they would not bolt up. There was no choice but to throw them onto a recycler's pile.

How long do you reckon that chrome will remain rust free and not start flaking off?

Reading through this got me to thinking of a tube question I had. Is there a liner on the inside of the rims like a bicycle has? I know we don't have spokes, but the tube wouldn't be rubbing on rusty metal.

Thankfully the nuts lined up perfectly on these. Need to do it all over again for the front wheel when they're back in stock.

On the question about the chrome staying pristine, I hope it will last. To be honest, it look and feels more like polished steel with a chrome look...maybe that will help it ride out the years. I think it will take a couple of decades to look worst than the rim it replaced haha.

To the question about the inner lining, there's nothing there so it will be just metal on rubber. It seemed pretty smooth and hopefully wont rust up to quick
