I only named the bikes and cars I've loved more, so until now I named:
1973 Moto Guzzi California 850 - "Guzzona", which affectionately means "Big Guzzi", "Heavy Guzzi" in Italian, meaning she's big, stubborn and reliable; 2004 Peugeot Ranch 1.9 diesel - "Christine" like the infernal car invented by Stephen King, because she tried to kill me; 2007 Vespa LX150 - "Centopunte", which is the Italian for "A hundred spikes", because on the first ride a porcupine crossed my road in the very moment I did the first hundred kilometers on the Vespa. |

I don't yet fully know my Vespas, so they remain unnamed, but I am working on it. Classic Italian names are at the top of the list.
Andrepdx, is that a Cheeky Seats seat cover on your scooter? It's very striking. |

For the love of God, I can not remember now the nickname I used for my first red Vespa GTS250ie ABS. It was my entry into the 2-wheelers world shame on me!
Then came Sheldon 1 and Sheldon 2, which were blue metallic GTS300s. First died in accident (or maybe is repaired by someone to whom insurance sold it at the end), second was short time with me since I wanted to try Brunhilde. Brunhilde was my Piaggio MP3 500. If the Piaggio hasn't instructed services to de-rate the engine due to the oil spillage to air-box challenge, I would be still having that bike. Not the prettiest on the street (that is why the name Brunhilde) but awesome technology to which I will return one day. In parallel, I got myself a gorgeous Aprilia MoTo 6.5, which was simply nicknamed MoTo. Bike was not used last few years and is waiting for opportunity of having a garage and spare time to work on its restoration. Did I mention that I had a minor accident with it? Brunhilde was replaced with Africa Twin CRF1000, which kept it's name as Africa. By mentioning the bike, first association are the rough roads and some adventure, in Africa. So it stays Africa. At the time when we bought gorgeous red GTS300 MY2010 for the Daahling, nicknamed Tomato, I decided to have again Vespa next to Africa (I needed some gorgeous looking city devil). That is when I bought my Froggy, an MY2017 green metallic GTS300. I really loved it for that colour, even got for it powder coated Fuoco rims and other small mods. Unfortunately, some nasty neighbour here in Berlin kicked it on the side, and it got some "injuries". Tried to cover that with the stickers but was never the same. In addition to this, 7 years older Daahling's Tomato looks like beeing much better quality than the MY2017, starting too early showing of some signs of wear. The last mentioned reasons brought me to decision to change Froggy to the MY2023 SuperTech in Dark Blue Matte colour, which I nicknamed Tina (or Anna Mae) for, to me, obvious reasons Am still waiting that dealership finishes the registration (it's not so fast here in Berlin ![]() 4-wheelers you ask? oki, I inherited Opel Ascona 1.3S from my father. Red! Again, my first vehicle, so was more excited about the car itself than christening it. Shame on me after that, I bought my first (bought) car: an '75 Beetle (Buba). Did not have the luck with it, since just after 3 days it was damaged by other car while parked. Was sold immediately. And then, my world opened it's doors for the true loves of my 4-wheeled life: Alfa Romeos. First one was white AR 146 1.3 with a boxer engine. Sweet Jeez, that car was amazing. Simple nickname: Whitey. When I moved to Germany, had to sell it. As starter, did not got too much options for financing new car, so had to stick with the company opportunity and went for BMW 316i. Well, that car learned me a lesson to never again, for my own money, own or maintain anything with the BMW badge. Enough said. Then I got the opportunity to get one of my dreams: an AR 156! Unfortunately with 1.6 engine, which was ok for one person, but with more than one one felt the lack of power. Gorgeous car, with the design which is still valid even nowdays, driving like on the rails. oh dear! Sold it only to get to bit more powerfull ... Panthera! My first, black AR 159 2.2JTS. The colleague of mine (by the way, he still laughs on my obsession on ARs) christened it, because that car really does look like an cat creature ready to jump on its pray. So, Panthera! When the opportunity came, I swapped it for the grey metallic AR 159 3.2JTS 24V Q4, the Panthera (on steroids). Till now, my most beloved car. I enjoyed it so much! I was greeting her with the wink of the eye when I saw her. Smile was always guaranteed. I had rough year in 2018 and had to sell it ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, I had shortly also AR 146 with bit stronger boxer engine, 1.6 litre one. The Red Devil. My Dealer of ARs said: "ah, you bought the car which feels and sounds like having double the PS it actually has". Enough said. Was still 2018 ... Now driving Ford Fiesta ST, an 200PS 3-door Blue Thunder. What a fun is that car. Perfect for city, Dr Jackyl & Mr Hyde. A real transformer from modest city car to perfect hot-hatch. But my heart is still beating in the AR rhythm. The New Giulia, despite the size of the car, is at the front seats too small for my body size. Am not fond of SUVs, so Stelvio and Tonale are not my cup of tea. Am still having wet dreams about my last Panthera. And am dreaming of getting myself one of the vintage GT or GTVs (Series 105), ideally 1750 or 2000 models with the Bertone facelift. But that requires the next level salary grade. |
