My name is Roel from the Netherlands and I have a question.
When I drive my MP3 500 from 2014 on the Highway with full throttle, my engine stutters sometimes. It is like it doesn't get enough fuel or air or it's a misfire.

I replaced the battery, air filter, sparkplugs, oil, oil filter and cooling fluid.
Does anyone have an idea what the problem can be?

Errr . . . you just might be hitting the rev limiter.

The MP3 500 has a top speed of around 145kph.

Yes, watch the tachometer. I think the rev limiter on the 400 kicked in at 8000?

speedlimit is 160 or 8250 RPM

the wrong belt (size) and roller weights could also be a problem

But if you do that often it wont last a year and then you need a engine rebuild

just a FYI the old red barn is no more, I traded it in on a spot on the lake.

Fyi re. top speed, keep in mind that the speedo gauge reads about 10% positive.

So if you see 165, your actual speed is about 150

Thank you Niko for helping me with the vario. Added Dr Pully rolls and a new original Piaggio belt,
Now the speed is 155 at 7500 rpm without stuttering.

I am not sure how great it is for an engine to have the guts wrung out of it for very long highway spells? To me at least, the MP3 500 engine doesn't sound too happy at 90ish mph or 150ish kmh, speedometer inaccuracies included. How you get beyond that I wouldn't know, I think that's the max speed I have seen, and the bike wasn't happy, and if you hit a few highways bumps you won't, either...

I probably wouldn't use it to do the 350 miles from the Bay Area to Los Angeles on I5 (a boring, straight highway you can do 85mph on all day, but which is also hot as hell).
