Good morning everyone,

It has been quite a few years since I my last post. I finally sold my 2008 MP3 400 in March. I placed it at the end of my driveway with a For Sale sign and it was sold within an hour. Could not believe how fast the response was. I vowed I would never purchase another MP3 because I had encountered SO MANY problems with the 2008 including having to resort to the Lemon Law to have over $2,500 in repairs addressed. However, after riding it only one time over the past year I decided to take it for a spin to make sure everything was OK before posting the for sale sign. Only several minutes into the ride, I again remembered how much I enjoyed taking it out for a spin.

So, I contacted a dealer and provided a $500 deposit 28 days ago. I selected the white color and was told it would take several months before it arrived in the US from Italy. Yesterday the dealer informed me there are issues with source materials and parts for production. Therefore, they plan to return the $500 deposit. Has anyone else heard of Piaggio having these problems? Something just doesn't seem right to me. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Greg

I think it's a worldwide problem, due to the pandemic and other factors. Piaggio isn't alone. Some car manufacturers are on the verge of stopping production because they can't get electronics. Italy on and off lockdowns, shipping delays, ...

Can confirm. I have some plastic parts on order for last couple months. Might eventually arrive next month.

Whenever I talk to dealers (even with other brands) its the same story about parts shortages due to Pandemic, lock-downs, shipping delays, etc.

Its going to be awhile before it gets better.

Yes, can't ride my other motorcycle (a BMW boxer) because a part is delayed and delayed. Supposedly will arrive in 2 weeks.
