I posted over in Today in Scooter Bollocks a few months back that I had picked up a straight OG Super. (I suppose a thread for this future project is appropriate at this point.)

It was moth balled until the SS180 is done, but as I am in a holding pattern on the SS180 waiting for a Denmark shipment I figured Id knock out some new shoes on the Super 150.
I don't ever like messing with two projects at once, but this was a low lift job that needed to get done.

Plan -
Go to storage facility and take off the hub and wheels.
Grind, Sand, Clean
Rust Converter
Clean
Paint
Reassemble with new tubes and tires.

Tedious job.... But, it's done and will make a good head start for when the project really gets going this fall/winter.

The candidate.

Up on the milk crate and the shoes removed.

This was the "clean one".

What's your technique for getting those bolts so shiny?

Brass wire wheel.
If itís just surface rust (as seen above) I just add some penetrating oil and wire wheel again.

On serious rust I will use the phosphoric acid, but that turns them black... and requires paint of some kind. I did clear coat on my vnb lugs and it gave it a cool kinda crustoration feel. Appropriate for OG paint and patina, but ymmv for something like your GL with slick new color.

Sweet!
Also - I apparently need a brass wire wheel.
