So, the database upgrade did not go quite as planned. I had to roll back to the original and then make a few of the lesser mods that I had planned, but not the big MySQL version upgrade.
Anyway, we're back. |

The best thing about this change is that Jess came back to us more often, I felt like someone whose closest relative had gone far and you saw him every now and then.

Agreed. I noticed the same. (The edit feature isn't functional... not that you write bullshit.) |

Hi Jess!
I'm glad to discover that you are still with us and keeping busy. I've used this site and owned three scoots since discovering MV. Thanks to this site, I've learned so much to drive safely and maintain (yup, I wrench.) scoots. Thanks for everything. Mark Mr F. |

Well that was no fun.
I upgraded the database last night. Specifically, I changed all MyISAM tables (which are ancient and largely unsupported) to InnoDB. Which makes sense, right? Except that InnoDB supports ROLLBACK, and so does the forum software. Unbeknownst to me, though, there was a SQL transaction that's been failing pretty much constantly because (drumroll...) I removed all the banners, and the banner stats code can't cope with updating empty stats. Which triggered a rollback on editing posts. If you're not following this, don't worry. It's ridiculously complicated and also ridiculously absurd. I think it's fixed now, but there's a strong chance there are more errant SQL queries that will trigger a ROLLBACK in the database. I am logging them now and will keep an eye on it. Thanks again for your patience. EDIT: Editing to add that I am editing this post. Heh. |

My IT experience is limited to the knowledge and use of CAD / CAM programs for mechanics and woodworking for furnishings. Ask me to disassemble and reassemble an engine and I will do it but with a PC more likely I washed it down with gasoline to set it on fire.
