I know it's older than 1984 by looking at license plate

Better than my guess, I just remember reading Mecum tag, looking up what it had, looking at scooter and it just wasn't correct. There wasn't a title with it either. Didn't think they would take kindly to me removing cowls to find it.

My understanding is The VNB is Allstate and VBB is Vespa. This has all the signs of a Vespa. Locking glovebox, frond dampener, shape of the speedo, and trim.

My vnb is most assuredly a Vespa. There were other channels aside from Sears (allstates) that brought in VNBs with the proper fork. Definitely not as common in the US market but they are out there.

That said… the speedo does look vbb.

This shows VNA and VNB speedometer being the same.

Judging, (and guessing) by the small space between 2 and 3 on the shifter tube, I surmise this may ( emphasize MAY) be a 4 speed. The space between the 2 and the 3 is larger on a 3 speed, if memory cells are to still be trusted.

What does that tell me 3 vs 4 speed, I might work my way back over there before the auction.

What else can I get a picture of that may help? Without taking body panels off?

Based on the color it's a VBB2T. Paint looks original. I used to have one just like it. 4speed 150.

You should be able to see the engine number and chassis number without taking off the cowl..

It helps to have a flashlight and a rag handy.

Engine number on the swingarm

Chassis number

Yeah haven't decided if I'm going yet. With it being a televised Mecum auction, and a $200 registration fee. I'm thinking stuff is going to be expensive. More interested in a 1973 V9A1T that is there.
