I refer to the photo of the headset posted on 4 May. First time ever that I have seen a control light with Turn and High Beam written on them.

Was that unique to the USA?

Good question. Donít know what all the US DOT requirements were, but seems likely that labels on the indicator lamps was one of them.

Iím sure thereís a comprehensive list out there. Anybody?

...shouldn't need any kinda paint for a long time, but the good rust removal is on track, then just Ospho and good wax job maybe.... Remember your firm commitment!:

Well itís a runner. Threw some tires on it and rode a whole .2 of a mile.

Engineís strong, but the clutch is non-existent (plates are probably fused together). Steering feels vague and wanders a bit to the right.

Gonna be a little more work than I thought ...

Pounded most of the dents out

Up to a whopping 940 now

Clutch fixed. Total cost = zero.

Pulled the cover and immediately saw the problem. No oil and rust everywhere.

After trying for an hour without success to get the rusted nut off, I said screw it. Sprayed half a can of my favorite lube over, under, in, around and between the plates, corks, springs and basket. Let it soak, had some lunch, ran some errands. Came back a couple of hours later, spun the clutch, worked everything with a big screwdriver, put the pressure plate and cover back on, filled the case with fresh ND30 ... presto! ... clutch works like new. Strike that. It works like it has 939 941 miles on it.

Is there anything better than a low mileage rat?

SDJohn - I am not sure we can just hand him the bodgemaster title...
But Socal was the first guy to say to me: start with the simple solutions...
Nice fix.
You officially have your visitor bike.

The titleís an honor ... or is it? Either way I proudly and humbly accept it and thank MV for the recognition.

Needless to say, thereís something refreshing about working on a beater. Simple fixes are the name of the game. No sweating details, no worries about stuff matching, or fitting or looking right ... holes in floor? Big deal ... it runs, shifts and stops. Letís go!

In this case absolutely an honor! You've been given one of the "special" titles .

And yes - that is exactly why I like my bikes with a bit of wear, you can decide your level of interest in a perfect fix and roll with it.

941.2, you are really racking them up! I had a good headstart on you with my newest, but smaller KM, so not that hard to rack 'em up - anyway, I made some good progress today:
