Time to introduce a friend's smallie I'm currently working on, alongside our "Special" project and my Malossi V-One motor. My friend Panos bought it from a customer of mine and although it was in a good shape and with a freshly rebuilt motor with a D.R. 102cc kit, he decided for a full resto. So, before taking everything apart, I first did the PK shortened fork I posted a while back and then prepped everything. Lots of chrome parts, cases went for vapor blasting, body was painted in beautiful "Avorio", upgraded Vape ignition with a 12V loom, SIP speedo, Egig Python exhaust, Polini CP carb and a few other things. We kept the motor as is for now, but a future Polini 130 is in our plans. It's coming along nicely and I hope it will be ready soon...

P.S. I hate installing rails...

Lots of photos following...

It's only cosmetic, not like he's cutting down a perfectly good frame.

I don't judge. It's his scooter and he can do as he pleases. I just, personally never liked whitewalls, unless they're on an old "gangster" era car...

Cables, looms and steering lock are in. Front end is almost done. Center stand is from BGM. They call it "Soft Stop System". A really nice idea / upgrade. Basically a P/PX stand for smallframes. So, no more banging on the floor. It's also available for Sprints / Rallys. My friend chose a VBB style tail light. Personally, I would have gone for a "Swan Neck" tail light if it was my smallie. It looks awesome but expensive, even for a repro. Tomorrow, hopefully I'll finish with the electrical system (install a main switch, find a place for the regulator, etc.). And I'm still contemplating how I'll fit everything inside the headset...

Moving on. Mudguard is mounted and aligned along with the spacers I had made. Main switch in place. Shock is also in and I had to fab a bracket for the regulator. Going for a stealthy installation. Oh, and the VBB tail light needed an extra screw behind the acorn to mount properly on the smallie's ass...

Is that key ignition switch stock for that model?

Loving the front mudguard shaping and it looks great with that new paint job.

Looks good, but that acorn rear light has got to go elsewhere in favor of a traditional smallie light.

Hey Nomad, I usually ALWAYS agree with you and I like original too, but I happen to think it looks nice and it IS at least made for a Vespa. Unlike some tail lights that were unfortunately forced on Americans by DOT and looks like some kinda ungainly tractor part IMO...

I learned a new word today - martinet, so please don't you be one here because this bike is expertly fixed up and fixer is just following strict orders!! Now just needs some nice yellow booties to go with the keyswitch and its a wrap!

You are reading my mind.

Itís cool and to each his own. I do now understand that the builder is just following orders. I remember my early years thinking how awesomely cool white wall tires looked.😀

Wow, sweet build SaFiS! I dig the front fender work and the PK shock mod. Super clean work.

Some would say "That build is SICK"! I'm more on the line of saying, "Dude, that build is TRICK!".

Very nice, very, very nice

Now we all want to see it rolling and the owner smiling after such a good friend that did such a bad-ass job at putting that thing together.

Headset's in. Front brake done. Engine's in the frame to measure and finish the wiring. Tried the exhaust and it looks awesome. An Egig Python (which he also had chromed) was our choice since a PM40 is nowhere to be found for over a year now and the guys at PM Tuning don't answer their emails. Since we needed a 10mm bolt for the rear shock, instead the usual 9mm, I upgraded his silent block with a poly one made by MD Racing (I have the same on my T5 and I'm very pleased). He also ordered and actually got a twisted kickstart from Beed Speed (HOLY COW!!!). Hoping to finish it by Saturday. Not much left to be done...

P.S. Have I mounted the horn correctly or should the cutouts be horizontal?? (I've seen it both ways)...

A few photos...

Lovely work as always Chrys!

I had the same YSS shock setup on my smallie but don't think there was any way I could bulge the mudguard enough, so went for cut and weld instead.

Btw, I substituted the YSS spring for a SIP one... it's way lighter and works beautifully. Highly recommended.
