My wife picked up a Bargain Sheet (a newspaper with individual classified ads) to see if any yard sales were in the area. I used to read it cover to cover every week, but over the last few years, I only read it a couple of times a year. It laid on the counter for almost a week, and I decided to take it along to work to read at lunch. I found an ad for a 2012 Vespa 300 Super for $1500. I did a little research on it and figured that it would already be sold, but made the call anyway. I got a voicemail and left a message, never expecting to get a response. I figured if I did get a call back, it would be in horrible shape, high mileage, not running and hours away from me.
I got a call back much to my surprise. It was still for sale, runs, good condition and 4,700 miles and here is the kicker. It is 5 minutes away. I rode over on my 125 to have a look at it. It was an older gentleman, that had to sell it due to some balance issues. It was stored inside, has some scratches from being stored in tight quarters. Regular maintenance with records and receipts. It is a 2012 GTS Super 300ie. Runs great, needs some more cleaning and shining up, and some touch up paint.
It's kind of nice not having to shift running around town, but the freewheeling as I come to a stop sign or red light is going to take some time to get used to that.
