Does anyone happen to know the screw type and size on a GTS 300 for the top two screws under the horn cover? And the knee pad screws?
My magnetized bits were apparently not magnetized enough.
I come close to a fastenal store on my way home from work. They have everything!

Take the remaining opposite screw to the hardware store. You may even be able to upgrade.

The title of the topic seems to me that of a movie.

The kneepad screws match the ones on the leg shield.

Almost, the leg shield ones are two different lengths. But the screw size would be the same, length not so but you do not need a long one for the knee pads. They just screw into a clip.

Nerd emoticon The ones I pulled were identical in all aspects. The left-hand body screw in my pic is the one from the kneepad. I just left them in place rather than switching back.

An idea for next time: clay

Just squash a little tiny ball of clay onto the screw, and it'll help keep it on the screwdriver before you get it settled. Oil-based is better than water-based, because it won't dry out as easily. Use baby wipes for any clay that's difficult to wipe or clean off (works great for getting it off your hands, too). It's not a 100% perfect fix, but it might help when magnetized stuff fails.

My, aren't we creative! I don't think that would have crossed my mind in a thousand years. (insert thumbs up emoticon here) I have a magnet tip on something like an old car antenna to fetch my runaways.

The parts diagram at wotmeworry.uk gives the "picture" number if the translation is right. But, scooterwest seems to have them cross-referenced so I'm in luck. I think their item info gives the dimensions, but I figure they made the knowledge available, they should reap the reward.

Still tempted to change them all to torix or all to phillips. The mish-mash drives me crazy!

Since you're buying them, why not opt for stainless steel screws?

Guzzi Gal, just loving your sticker! Where did you get that? I would definitely NOT mess with your scooter having seen that...lol.

It's less of not knowing where to get them, and more knowing what length, pitch, and diameter to get. I've gotten a lot of good tips here and appreciate everybody's ideas!!

My husband found those for us. They are by Kodaskin and can be purchased at aliexpress.

Remember, screws are never completely lost - they are just waiting to turn up in one of your tires.

Hi Witch, you saved the day! I had one of the Tinnerman clips fall off, but was able to fish it out. I could reach where it was supposed to go with the tip of my finger but not enough room for the thumb as well. "If only I had a magnetic finger" "Wait a minute! Plasti-tac is kind of like clay, that might work."

And it did. I was able to hold it in position and thread the screw into it. Yay!

I squeeze a blob of E6000 adhesive into the bend of those clips before reinstalling them. It often (not always) keeps them in place during the next disassembly, and isn't hard to remove if necessary.

If it is a screw into wood, I often will use a bunch of toothpicks to wedge in any screw that has lost it's hold. Toothpick shims for the win.
