I'm wondering if the generator output - GTS 300 (new) - is adequate to run two Keis heated jackets plus heated grips?

First find out the output of your alternator, minus what power is used to run the machine. then you have left what you can use to run your heated grips and jackets. Probably not enough.

As far as I know the new HPE Vespas run 450w alternators, same as the earlier ones. Dealer can tell you for sure and how much extra power is left over for the jackets.

I run 3.9amp motorcycle heated grips (using an average 3.6amps during normal use) on my GTS300 2016 model. There probably isn't enough power left over to run more than one heated jacket but you need to find out how much juice the jackets consume of course.

Speak with your dealer.

Yeah that sounds about right . My Ural has a 500w alternator plus heated grips and plugging much more in really isn't a great idea. I have a heated blanket that I can run with the grips. For my chest I use the motionheat vest ( http://powerinmotion.ca/Products/Heated-Wear/Heated-Vest ) that runs on battery packs. My rear fear is going somewhere in the cold parking then not starting after a while because the battery is drained. Mind you I ride in some really cold weather that is not great for batteries.

My guess (and it's only a guess) is no. Heated grips are no problem. Grips plus one jacket is pushing it.

As a side note, IME the GTS is awful for two-up riding. YMMV.

Note that the alternator only puts out the rated power when the engine is revved up. If you are doing any stop-and go or slow-speed riding, you don't have that much power to work with.

Might want to attach a temporary voltmeter to the battery if you intend to experiment. A falling voltage indicates you are drawing more than the alternator is putting out.

My wife picked up a battery-powered heated vest for me this past winter. Not suitable for arctic conditions or very long rides, but under a well-insulated jacket it makes cold days tolerable. Several heat levels selectable, and the pocket lithium battery can run a couple hours at medium heat. I suppose you could pick up extra batteries and swap them if you needed more heat or longer duration.

Also found that a neck gaiter makes a huge difference.

The thing that makes the biggest difference for me in cold-weather riding is the Aerostich Windstopper Jersey. After my helmet, it is the single most important piece of gear I own.

Thanks for the advice! I think the battery powered jacket option is favourite. Has anyone tried the Exo-Togg inflatable inner jacket? The Aerostitch could be worth a try..I really feel the cold but have never been a fair weather rider..

The advantage I think the Aerostich Windstopper Jersey has is that it adds very little bulk. It's not an insulating layer, but by keeping the wind out, it keeps your own body warmth in. It is surprising how much of a difference that one thin layer makes. It's also more comfortable in varied temperatures, e.g. when it starts warming up.
