hi, just considering buying this Vespa Sprint Veloce, but I can't find out whether its been imported from Asia or an original scooter direct from Italy to Australia.

from the VIN I can see its Italian, but there's no paperwork or compliance plate, anyone have any suggestions. Was going to buy to do minor restoration, keep as original as possible.

From the pics it looks fairly complete but I can see some filler here and there, which could be expected for something this old

VIN is VLBT (star ) 0313071 (this is what I was given, it may be missing a 1 between B and T?

engine VLB1M 0380515

see the pics

The motor number doesn't look correct.
Lots of filler below the glovebox door.
Trapezoid headset suggests Indo origin.

Agreed. Lets see topview of the headset. If it has small-clam speedo + indent for hex badge; definitley an indo headset.

If it's Indonesian, that's ok. If it's been repackaged in Pakistan or Vietnam, then it's a problem. I love Indonesia with absolutely no sarcasm.

Looks like it's had at least one respray since factory, so as always, try to gauge what's under the paint. The cracks in the left side cowl indicate a bunch of body filler as Socal said, but a side cowl can be replaced. The integrity of the main structural frame is to be determined.

It has an old style engine (not a PX swap-out), so that bodes well, especially if it's the proper Sprint V 3 port motor from factory.

I know next to nothing about Indonesian Vespa characteristics, but certainly in Europe, a Sprint V would have had a Rally style headset and big round headlight, whilst a regular 2 port Sprint would have had a trapezoid.

Fair enough ... + or -.
The model code is "suspiciously" eroded .... mmmh ....

thanks for the replies, here is a pic of the top headset, I am leaning towards looking for another option, I really don't want to buy a money pit, and can't look at the scooter in person, so only have photos to go from
