Hi Syd - thanks for your note. Yes - the DS-XL is required for the 300 HPE primarily due to the overall length and the rather deep plunge of the seat in front. The cover will be a little blousy, but that's okay - always better a little big vs. too small. Especially with a scooter. Our Vespa customers simply raise the seat, apply the cover. pull in any excess material and then re-latch the seat back into place [don't obstruct the latch!]. This method assures a clean look, protects the entire seat from sun and rain AND will ensure your CoolAss stays put - even on the windiest days!

Hope to earn your business!

Best,

Brian

I'm wondering how they are for riding on, for really rainy days when you don't want a leather seat getting wet.

Usually I just ride on the flimsy under-seat cover when it's raining. Given that I do that, and a Cool Ass seat cover is more robust, I assume it will work fine.

The under-seat cover is at the point where a hard rain soaks through it, so it might be time to replace it with something more robust.

I seem to remember that I bought a Cool Ass Seat Cover when I bought the scooter in 2012, and at some point, it started to shed little silver flakes, but I think I got a fair amount of use out of it before that happened, so maybe it's time to give it another go.

Thanks for your note and thanks for your business in 2012! You are correct - the black cover that comes with some Vespas and stores in a little cup under the seat is NOT waterproof and since it is black (!) is certainly not heat resistant.

CoolAss is both heat resistant and waterproof, BUT - I can't, by law. recommend that you ride with CoolAss on your seat. Yes - we do have owners that do this, but it makes the seat BIG TIME slippery and could be dangerous during fast stops, starts and tight curves.

CoolAss is meant for protecting seats from rain, sun, snow, wind, hail, dew and so on - when your scoot is parked. In addition, the surface of CoolAss is designed to reflect heat and the sun's rays up and away from it. If you ride with the cover on - on a hot, sunny day - the heat will reflect right back at you! Not good. Darned uncomfortable.

Hope to earn your business, though. We are in our fifth-generation of material and any flaking (even after 8+ years) just doesn't happen anymore. And there is nothing like a cool, dry seat when you're getting ready to ride - even on the hottest or wettest days!

Thanks again for your note and your questions.

Be safe!

Best,

Brian

Hi Brian,

Held against the seat and following the contours, it measures 49.5 X 27. The 27 is taken over the drivers little backrest part of the seat.

Thanks!

Hi Marty - yep - even our XL will be too tight in length, but fine in width - would look like the pic I sent (and below). Not optimal, but close. Applying the cover and re-latching the seat down will secure the cover nicely, but that little bit in the back would be exposed.

Thanks Brian,

I'll try again. I don't mind a little of the back uncovered.

Hi Marty - I would feel safe selling the XL to you, especially given that there is adequate width to "tuck in" underneath the seat before re-latching down. Of course, you are the boss. If - for any reason - you are unhappy w/ fit or performance, we will refund - period.

Hope to earn your business.

Best,

Brian
