Any ideas on this? 2010 gts 300. Cut out and will not start. Cranks over but will not fire, there is a spark and fuel is coming out of the injector. Fitted a new battery and regulator as there were charging problems (started fine afterwards but then this problem started) Tried blue and brown keys but it still just cranks over without firing. Checked the valve clearances when i gave it a full service roughly 1000 miles ago. Im stumped!

Right, plug, lead and cap replaced. Plug sparks great when out of head.
Fuel pump works great and the injector is spraying fuel.
Cranks over well so it's not the starter motor.
Kill switch stops it cranking so that's working.
Battery is new and fully charged.
Air filter is clean.
Belt and rollers are great as they were only changed 1000 miles ago.
No faults showing when the diagnostics are run.
Valve clearances are spot on.
This is driving me demented as I can't suss it.

Sounds like you've covered all the bases. An engine needs air, fuel, and spark. You say the plug sparks great when out of the head -- what did you ground it to when you were testing that?

Is it possible the ground lead to the side of the engine is faulty?

Funnily enough I noticed that lead was loose so I sorted that but no change. Grounded it to the head cover.

Okay, good. But now is the engine flooded from repeated start attempts?

Bollocks, the ht lead had become trapped and was shorting. It was still sparking at the plug but was shorting out stopping it from running. Fixed now.
