Modern Vespa

Went away for 4 months for work, got home and went to start the scoots but it wouldn't turn over. I work down the checklist, narrow down the issue and replaced the coil and yay it starts. Go for ride and I only get half power(11-15mph), and when I say half, I turn throttle fullIi get less power but turn half way and it works. The carb was replaced 4 yrs ago. Prob need to clean and adjust it, but i was looking to see if anyone had insight on the issue. Scoots is a 2009 piaggio fly 50 4t. Any advise is appreciated.

yeah lol. 12ft whip on 1 side and a 9ft on the other. im live @ the beach, i get a fair amount of questions from some about it.

Welcome to MV nimbus from New England, I see you're using a dropper on the smaller rod, I use a similar set up on my flyrod. Good fishing.

Does your checklist include looking for pests in the air filter?

yeah, I ran it without the filter. which looks to be in good shape. im gonna put fresh fuel and new filter tomorrow but i suspect it'll be worst case scenario(allways is).

pull and clean the carb, flush and fill the fuel system then report back.
charge up the battery.

my guess is on the carb though.

Ethanol gas can easily go bad in four months if not treated. Definitely fresh gas needs to be on your list of things to do. If you live close to water, maybe some condensation in the tank as well.
