Hi
I have a 2010 300GTS Super and all of a sudden I am struggling to get it started, basically I need to keep toggling the killswitch and turning the ignition key on and off before I can get the starter to fire. Its not that its struggling to start per se, more that there seems to be a disconnect between the starter button and the engine. Once that connection is made it starts first time everytime.

I don't know whether its related but I've also occasionally had it just cut out when riding (very scary once when I was overtaking someone)

Anyone got any great ideas as to what could be the problem ?? The bike has only been mine a few months and it seems as though no one has paid it any love till I got it, but it was serviced when I bought it.

Thanks very much
Sean

I have heard some folks needing to replace the killswitch or at least clean the contacts. I haven't experienced the starting problem you describe so I can't speak with any authority on that.

I have experienced losing power / stalling when the engine is warmed up and at speed. There have been a number of causes: cracked fuel line, failing stator, loose spark plug cap and boot, voltage regulator, ECU and a faulty kill switch. I'd start with the killswitch and see if you get lucky enough to solve both problems.

Hope you get your issues sorted and are back on the road soon!

Yeah, it sounds like a faulty kill switch or one with dirty contacts. The problem could also be with the brake switches. Do you always squeeze the same brake lever when you attempt to start?

I'm thinking kill switch, the indicator switch is on its last legs and about to be replaced, I'll get a new kill switch as well I think. Good call.

I use different brake levers to start with, I don't think its that.

Thanks very much
