Having looked at the thread on the Cannonball today, I was thinking of trying to talk my son into doing it with me some year.

I thought I would rewatch the DVD, which I haven't done since it came out. For some reason, the DVD, actually both of them - I don't remember why there is a blue and a gray - don't want to work anymore. It churns around for a while in the Mac's DVD drive and then gets spit out.

Does anyone know if it's online now?

I watched this yesterday; a lot of fun to watch, but I could never make it. 10+ hours a day in the saddle would kill me.

Yeah, a bit of that.....as I consider my mother my original scooter-enabler and she's always open to viewing suggestions, I dropped my copy off for her and she started watching. I was checking in on her progress when she asked, "How long does this fucking thing last??"

I watched both of them over the weekend. The criticism of "It's Not a Race" may be a little fair, but I enjoyed nonetheless, particularly the two guys doing it on 50cc scooters, and their staying ahead of Lawson most of the way. I wonder if he kept riding his Vespa afterwards. I also really enjoyed the person doing the Cannonball on a classic Lambretta.

"Slow Ride Home" was a little more positive in its camaraderie - there was nobody ditching anyone because they were going too slow, etc. But where was the rest of the race riders? I kept wondering if they were even doing the Cannonball, or if they had struck off on their own at some point. "It's Not a Race" was nice for the parking lot chatter.

The Slow Ride Home guys really did run that year.

I saw them at the start and passed them once.

But the way events like this work, people break up into their groups for dinner and maintenance.

I spent most of my non riding time with my team.
