I bought another SH150. Not sure I want to go all out. I'm thinking about only installing the 170 kit. Does anyone know if the BBK is a waste of time without the high performance cam? I think Malossi is using the cam to make up for not offering a 4 valve head. I don't have much valve train experience but it seems that a performance cam would require the air filter/exhaust upgrade.
Not sure I want the loud exhaust.
Has anyone installed(any bike) the BBK only? If so, what did your but dyno think?

there's no replacement for displacement.

personally, i'd do the kit and the cam. then follow the up with at minimum some rollers or maybe some transmission upgrades. cheap and easy from there.

i mean, you've got the top end off, what's a cam swap while you're there? unless it's prohibitively expensive then i say jam that sucker out.

hello new found power! now tune the trans in...

ETA: don't sweat the exhaust or the filter. maybe pick up a malossi or polini to breath a bit better. the BBK is where the good money spends and if you can afford the cam do that as well.

i've installed a metric ass ton of BBK's on otherwise stock bikes. and besides *maybe* a roller change they were all better for it. you got this, roll with it.

Thank's. I think I'll do the BBK, cam and the fuel controller, so it's not the cost. For a short time I've contemplated going all the way.

Kindly do top speed runs (GPS) before and after. And if your phone supports it, 0-50 and 0-60 times. Oh, and approximate increase in fuel consumption.

I tend to like leaving my scooters OEM. I'm not convinced Honda engineers left a lot of performance on the table with the SH. For the performance, the mileage is exemplary. But another 10MPH top speed would certainly be useful. Right now it is usually pinned on urban Interstate jaunts.

I am very curious just what can be done to improve performance. Although I'd be unwilling to increase noise levels.

Mostly I use the SH for city errands, and the BV350 for Interstate or other highway trips.

Based on what? Honda scooters are like a Debian Stable Release. Everything works, and what doesn't is probably your fault. I don't know of another brand that improves so much in performance with an aftermarket variator than Honda. They run forever, just not on the bleeding edge.
I am very interested in seeing how this turns out. We have a number of customers in the Great Lakes Area who have done a lot with Malossi and the SH150, and they seem to be having fun. I hear nitrous really speeds them up.
