New to the form. First time post. My headlight and dashlight went out on my 2013 Vespa LX50. Turn signals and brake lights working. Fuses are OK. Headlamp bulb appears to be good. Battery reading is 12.68.

Hi and welcome!

So everything was working fine, and then the lights suddenly stopped working (both headlight and dash)? The bike runs, just no lights?

How did you check the fuses (i.e. just a visual inspection, or actual remove and test)?

Is that the battery reading at rest, or while running?

Hello berto,

The battery reading is at rest. The fuses were removed and checked visually.

The scooter was running fine but started revving quite high when we noticed the dash and headlamp had gone out. The idle was adjusted and the bike runs fine, just no head or dash lights.

Thanks for your response!

In America LX 50s have running lights which means that the headlight goes on with turning signals on the monoquote body. Are the running lights working or not?

Hi Max6200,

No, the daytime running lights are not working, nor the dash or high beam. Turn signals and brake lights work fine.

Sounds like you'll need to do some electrical troubleshooting to see where the electricity "ends". There are wiring diagrams here:
https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Vespa/LX50/

Before then, you may want to recheck fuses for continuity with a multimeter. (Especially if the diagram shows headlight and dash are on same fuse)

switch the fuses around and see if that fixes one problem and creates another. It sounds like a stator or regulator issue.

OK. Battery died. Charging system issue I guess. Regulator?

What's the voltage at the battery with the bike running? With it revving?

The visual inspection of the fuse is not enough. I learned it when I bought another electric part, because the fuse seemed good. But was not...

Hello— was this issue ever resolved for you? I'm having the exact same issue on my 2012 LX50. Everything works great, except no headlights and no dash lights. Blinkers and brake lights work fine. Starts fine.

Something is broken with the charging system. The headlight/dashlights only go on when the engine is producing enough electrical power. Otherwise they are off to conserve battery power much needed for the starter.
