Question:
Three times, in the last 2 months, at WOT Gigi will hesitate three to five times in the space of less than two seconds. I immediately back off the throttle and all seems well. I'm not a balls-to-the-wall rider but sometimes you just gotta hall a$$ when the need arises.

Details:
'13 GTS 300ie serviced at proper intervals
46 miles short of 9000-mile service
2nd owner, purchased at 3700 miles w/service records
Only issue, a flat tire at the time of purchase, new City Grips installed

I'm mechanically inclined but have zero knowledge on the subject. I thank you in advance for any help you can give whilst being kind to my aging brain.

This sounds like the rev limiter kicking in. Congratulations! You hit the limiter!

Well, that's no fun!

So basically she's telling me to back off so she doesn't bust a nut.

Au contraire! It means you have found the limit! Now that you know what it feels like, the trick is to go even faster. That takes some careful coaxing, just-slightly-off WFO, until the bike edges faster. It's a delicate process. You should also be, at that point, in full tuck, trying to make as small a profile to the wind as possible.

Yeah, basically. But ignore her. She can go faster.

Trust me, I was in full tuck. We had stopped for a quick water break when my husband passed us up and kept riding. He announced that he was feeling wonky and rode off into 25 miles of twisty road sans civilization. It was about 115° out and the nearest gas station was only 8 miles away but in a different direction. He obviously wasn't in his right mind.

He's the guy who won't tell you he's feeling sick until it's too late to do anything about it. He doesn't want to ruin your fun. There was no way in hell I was going to let him ride into the wilds alone. I said my goodbyes and geared up to follow him.

He must of had perfect timing because there was a long line of slow-moving cars between us. Almost the whole 25 miles is double-yellow, which I ignored at every safe opportunity. It took me about 10 minutes to catch up but it felt like 20.

All turned out well but he got the short version of the "if you'd just listened to me" lecture, once his brain was back online.

When I finally caught up it took another 20 minutes to get to a Walgreens for heat relief. Thanks to the adrenaline from my speedy ride, I was just as wonky as he and hit the floor at the first available spot. Needless to say, the cashier was a little surprised. We ended up staying about an hour, chugging Gatorade and chatting with the staff until one of our group caught up. After she cooled off, we hightailed it home.

I should write them a thank you note for being so accomodating to two overheated scooterists.
