Folks, just joined the forum so please take it easy on me.

As I am learning my way to fix my first project scooter.

It is a 2003 Piaggio LT150 with nearly 1600 miles and it hasn't been run in a long time and has issues that need to be fixed.

First step, it needs a battery, not running and would need air intake accordion hose.

Where should I start in terms of starting on the maintenance and battery? Could anyone please point me towards a manual or something to get started?

I have fixed cars, small engines and motorcycles - but first time on a scooter

Thank you for all the help and guidance.

I've never had an LT150, so I'm no help. There are lots of knowledgeable folks here who will chime in soon.

In the meantime, welcome to scootering and welcome to Modern Vespa, helpmeLT150 Scooter emoticon

Welcome!

I've only seen an LT in person a few times (hoo boy, did I want one when they were around!). I do know they have quite a lot in common with the Vespa ET, if that helps as far as maintenance and repairs. You'll probably find a lot more info available for the ET4. As I understand it, the LT was basically a Vespa ET that decided to be an Aprilia Scarabeo when it grew up.

Hello!

Under the wiki section you will find a link to "workshop manuals". There is an LT150 section that should help you.

Thank you, looking at the Wiki not seeing anything or maybe I am at the incorrect location? Would you please know?

That looks like the Model Directory? As mentioned, you need "Workshop Manuals". It will eventually take you here: https://manuals.wotmeworry.org.uk/Piaggio/LT150/

Would you guys suggest anything before I start digging into it?

Like does it require any specialty tools or while I am there take care of some maintenance?

Thank you for all the help.

Yes, that's a great place to start.

There are also many threads on this forum talking about buying an older bike, and giving lots of good info. Things like needing to change brake fluid. Probably replace tires (they have a molded date code that will tell you their age). Likely want to replace other rubber bits like fuel and vacuum lines, intake manifold. Change air filter and spark plug.

Thank you, does anyone know if YTX9-BS would also work or I need YTX12BS?

I bought one of the new LT150's in 2004 when they were heavily discounted to $2199 to clear out inventory.

They are great lil lightweight scooters.....wish I still had it.

Would anyone please know how to get access to the carb? I can see seat is using two bolts on the front and then one is there on the back - are there any hidden bolts for removing the plastic top?

You have to remove the plastic body to get to the carb. You can adjust the idle screw with it on if you have along screwdriver, but to remove it or do much else you will need to take it off. Most of the bolts are pretty obvious. Iirc you have to remove the luggage rack and disconnect the turn signals and brake light. Most of the other bolts are obvious, but there are two hidden behind the vent in the footwell.

This manual should work for you https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1254379/Piaggio-Liberty-125.html

The 125 and 150 are identical. The 150 is just a bored out 125 engine.
