After many many years of wanting one from my childhood spending my summers with my family in southern Italy, I've finally bought my Vespa. Found her restored from a couple who's been in the game for a long time from what I hear. Anna and frank Giordanno from NewRochelle NY. Town next to mine, go figure. I introduce to you my girl......Francesca

Thanks all. Definitely have a lot to learn to keep this baby running smooth in the future. I could of went with a more modern tech version but I wanted to experience the joy of this engine and its character. Nothing new can compare to it. Plus the smell of the fumes it gives off just puts me in a time machine. Any pointers for a newbie? Like do's and don't. Anything I should have in my Arsenal right away besides oil lol. The engine is restored new from top down so there is the I total break in period that I'm aware about.

Nice scooter!
Each to his own of course, but I'd be swapping the plastichrome horncast, headset top and indicators for the original types. Then you'd have a really original-looking 70s/80s classic. |

That really looks good! I agree with Norman though that removing the plastichrome would make it look even better

Yes I agree. I was actually thinking of getting them repainted to match the body. Indicators ? Which ones would be the originals ?

I'm going to beg to differ on the lenses, I like them this way. The horncast - meh could go either way. I had the smoke colored lenses on my P and they look good too. BTW welcome aboard.

+1, I like the clear or smoked w/ amber bulbs inside better too, but it is an individual preference thing. On a P, it is proper on newer ones I think and suit yourself on this, next owner can easily do the same. Agree on losing the chrome too - very sharp bike regardless, congratulations on 'winning' it.
Oh, also, if you feel compelled to go back to stock, you'll need to swap your sexy Euro tail lite for the proper clunky USA 'tractor' light |

Might leave the clears but do agree with the chrome. Not crazy about it, will get that done soon. And for the original back to us spec tail light , lol. I'm skipping that and keeping the euro taillight. If the next owner wants it, they can do it. Off course that I want to go ride i can't. Been raining for the last few days. 🤬 sure. Here's a piece of the most delicious cake ever made and a fork. Oh yeah you need to wait for everyone to finish before you can eat yours. Lol.

Swap the chrome for paint, leave the clear signals, rock the euro light & RIDE! You have a beautiful scooter. My first was a '79 Burgundy P200E. This will always have a special place for me. Enjoy every moment

That's my plan. At first I was unsure of the color in pictures, but in person, it is a really nice color. Although my preferred color would be alpine white.

I love that color. It is very close to what is known in the VW and Porsche world as Malaga Red. Would look great with smoke lenses. I would go back to the black fender crest to match the rest of the trim, or convert the rest of the trim to chrome, either way so long as it is consistent. And yeah, paint the horncast and headset.

We should ride like chips matching bikes. 😂
Voodoo I like the black. I might do that or paint the same as bike. I just got the plates yesterday. It's been raining, hopefully take her out on her inaugural ride tonight. Will send a rolling hopefully this weekend. Quick noob question. I bought motul 710 2t synthetic. Pre-mix/. Oil injector. Is this right for my bike ? I have mineral to put in the tank for the first two fill ups since it's a top down build and was recommended. But for the crank is the motul 710 good ? |

Motul 710 is good!
I've heard that there can be issues mixing the mineral/synthetic in the same tank, but have never experienced an issue. Usually let it run down to almost the bottom of the glass, then add a full bottle. |

I love the bike. It feels naked without the legshield trim, though.
The original stuff is hard to replace, but the plastic one is a good option. https://www.scooterwest.com/px-plastic-leg-sheild-trim-silver-574682.html |

Thanks for the recommendations. My one mess up is I totally forgot I need a mirror to pass inspection. 😳 trying to find one? Anyone got any recommendations for a fast delivery in the us. Even if it's not original. I only need it to stay on for inspection. Then I will hunt for an oem mirror.

Just went for my first real ride. Wow so freakin awesome. Takes some getting used to with that clutch. But after a while I was running it smooth. Is it me or do I find bigger bikes easier to change gears. Lol.love the sound and smell of a two stroke. Can't wait to take it out again tomorrow night.
One question though. Can I somehow change the headlight or bulb to brighten it up. It feels like I have a candle burning in there. Lol. Would feel safer with a brighter headlight. |

There are lots of headlight options, bc they made those bikes all the way up to the 2010s.
I got one of these, and was really happy with it. It's the one from the later models. https://www.scooterwest.com/px-halogen-head-light-h4-582946.html |
