I found a Papier-mâché zebra head. I got it and thought it could be an ornament on the Vespa. I clear coated it so it can be water resistant.
I mounted it with some zip ties as the picture shows.
Here is the dilemma, I find that in that position it hinders the light getting to the road in front, oncoming traffic can see the headlight but I can't see clearly the pot holes at night.

So I took it off, mounted it a bit lower, haven't tested how it would work at night, but riding during the day I discovered that if I look at the back of the head of the zebra, then I tend to loose balance or a reference for how the handle is turning. Riding between lanes in the city wasn't very fun. So now I have taken it off.
I thought of maybe adding LED bulbs to the eyes may help in the night time seeing pot holes, but then what kind would be best to use etc came to mind.
Any suggestions on how to mount without doing any major structural changes to the Vespa and minimize any permanent damage to the vehicle.

Galvanized Steel Single Hole Wrap Strap? Add some washers (rubber?) to protect the Zebra. My biggest worry would be the headlight being blocked. Moisture damage to the paper-mâché is a problem for long-term use.

This might do the trick.

I thought "zebra" was going to be term for a part I was not familiar with. Thought I might learn something here. Nope, just your run of the mill zebra.

Thumbs up from me! When I saw the thread title, I didn't know what to expect. But I certainly didn't think it would be about mounting a large scale zebra head on the front of a bike!

That'll get attention, I suppose! I hope it works out.

Ok, first of all, that is downright hilarious and all sorts of fantastic.

I occasionally put decorations and doo-dads on my GTV's front rack. More often than not, I found that zip-ties were the best for that, and I basically just kept a bunch of spares around (in both generic clear/white, and in fancy chrome, in case they were super visible).

My suggestion would be to get something that you can place between the rack and the zebra, in the shape of a wedge (with the small end pointing downward). That might allow the zebra to move forward to an angle that hopefully won't interfere with the headlight. It's kind of hard to tell just from your photo, without being able to see it in person. So basically, mount the head on something you can mount to the rack. Maybe cover it with something flashy, like a scarf. Not being distracted by stuff on the legshield just takes a bit of getting used to.

As far as the zebra being papier-mâché, personally, I would mostly reserve it for special occasions to make it last longer.

Lol I admit that is awesome
I have a few motorcycles along with my vespa and if I had that zebra head I'd take a picture of it mounted to all of them and start the same thread in each particular motorcycle forum
This has made me think of a local gals song and video from a few years back. Come to think of it...imo its the perfect little tune for zipping around on a vespa

I have given Zebra a whole can of clear coat varnish which basically made them water resistant. Has been out in the rain the last 3 ties and not been hurt thus far, my goal is to give them a clear coat every few months to keep them protected from the elements.
I still have to decide if I want to make a notch on Zebra to then allow me to put them against the bottom of the rack so they are flush with the back of the rack or make a notch on the throat and get to a similar result. Have to play around and see this weekend.
I don't want to be in a situation again wherein I can't see the pot holes (nasty ass ones) at night & there are plenty of them in NYC

I suppose it's all about levels. I mean, I went so far as to make this sticker for the glovebox on the Stella and another because I didn't have a Stella emblem. But it's far from a severed zebra head on the legshield. So ... more power to you.I guess.

I actually made it. I found some vinyl sticker media for inkjet printers, and so far it's nifty stuff.

Aaaand I know I'm in the "no-zebra-on-my-bike" camp, but I did just add a blue zebra seat cover.
