Hi All,
Recently rewired an original US Spec 1979 P200E 'double yellow' stator plate and I have a couple questions (which may lead to a couple more):
When I pulled the stator, all the wiring was basically crumbling, and some of the wire colors were difficult to identify. So, using the wiring diagram, and some photos I took before disassembly I re-soldered the new wires as I interpreted how they were originally configured. Does anyone have, or can you take photos of a properly wired double yellow stator for a sanity check reference? My biggest question is about how the black and purple wires are supposed to be installed. The way it appeared to be originally, is that the black wire was grounded to the plate at the base of the coil next to coil that the green wire is soldered. Then the purple wire was soldered to the other end of the same coil.
Where I'm confused is that on the wiring diagram, it shows that coil as dedicated to the black wire and the coil to the right of that as being dedicated to the purple. But that's not how it appeared to be wired originally.
When running the engine, I am not getting power to the headlight switch, and therefore not powering the headlight. I disconnected the stator wires from the wire harness and did a continuity test between the purple and black wires, as well as from purple wire to engine case, and as I would expect based on how its wired there is no resistance.
It seems to me like the purple wire needs to be connected to the coil to the right....but at the same time it seems like the 2 could are tied together.
Just trying to put some logic to the situation. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Guido
