Hey again,

I want to reach out to the community to ask for guidance on installing the gear and throttle washer sets for my VBB. Attached is a marked up image of the washers. Can someone please confirm for me:

Does the thicker washer goes on the gear handle, between the headset and handle?

Do the thin washer and curved washers go on the gear and throttle handles inside the headset? What order are they installed and which way does the tab point on the curved washer?

What is the large single washer used for? Is it for a different model Vespa?

Thanks for your help

Josh

Chandlerman,

Thanks. I've reviewed those diagrams again and again.

On the gear side is #60312, the fiber washer between the headset and handle?

Do #60566 and #60565 washers fit on the handlebars inside the headset with the tab of # 60565 facing toward the pulley?

What does the large washer do?

I just went and checked. Lucky for you my VBB has the headlight out right now

On my VBB, it's (from inside-to-outside/grip):
- Throttle/Gear shift pulley
- Tabbed washer, tab facing in
- Wavy washer
- Fiber Washer

Glad I could help!

It's amazing how such a simple bit of information can be so hard to find sometimes.

Note that both the shifter and throttle pulleys have holes to insert the wavy washer tab. The hole in the shifter pulley is on the "back".

I've never done it on a VBB yet, just my GL, which is a different headset/tube setup. I was able to wander out to the workshop and take a look, though.

thanks blazer. as I was dry fitting the pulleys and washers, I identified that the tab does fit into the hole on the back side of pulley

I know it's a couple years old thread, but I am wondering if Stoller or anyone else remembers exactly where the single larger washer goes in the VBB headset assembly? Is that part 60312 in the diagram that goes over the gear tube for friction with the L side of headset?

I actually can't find this bigger washer in my stash, despite having a few headsets taken apart, but I do have the other washers (tabbed, fiber, and also a single thin metal one that I could use, which is the same size and WILL fit over the gear tube).

Thanks!

Also reach out to Scootermercato. Dave and Matt are incredibly helpful, and their prices are the most competitive around.

Just so I'm 100% clear...we're talking about the gear tube spacer and not one of the inside spacers/washers, right?

And I third Scooter Mercato. Call 'em up and they'll know the part and hook you up.
