I'm pondering what direction to go with this Vespa ET2 that my daughter layed down on a sandy roundabout. You can see in the pictures its pretty banged up. I've removed the plastics and will have to replace most of them if I chose to fix this thing. The frame is the bad part.

My question is if people with experience with Vespas would recommend
1)completely fixing it
2)parting it out (runs perfect)
3) trying to sell it as is
4)fixing it just enough so it works and using it, or
5)making it a project bike, fixing it, and doing something fun with it like turning it into an electric bike.

I'm just looking for suggestions, experience, or whatever. I'm guessing fixing it up so it looks near perfect will run over $2,000 usd.

^^^ this. Hope she's ok. But to answer you question, as long as the center tunnel is not twisted badly or bent, it's fixable, but it would be a lot of work. This is if you are doing it on your own. If you contract it out, it is likely to cost more than the scoot is worth. Good luck

to echo the other sentiments, I hope nobody was seriously injured.

carrying on... mannnn I hate to tell you this, but that thing is worth like, ten bucks and a burrito.

unless you want to keep it and pound around town on a beater for quickie shopping trips I wouldn't throw another dime or any time at that thing.

if you want to adios it, list it up at $500 and take anything close to 250

Thanks for the replys guys. I should have mentioned in the original post my daughter got a smallest of scratches between where her pants and jacket meet. She was wearing a bunch of motorcycle riding gear at the time and it worked perfect.

The damage to the bike makes the accident look 1000 times worse than it was. The biggest dents came from hitting the curb.

And thanks for the input of the value of the bike and options. I figured it would not be worth restoring, but I wanted to see what the community thought.

Glad your daughter is okay. I see people in the want ads looking for a Vespa motor. I'm sure you could sell it to them.

Glad to hear that your daughter is okay. One big take away is she is okay because she had proper riding gear on. Toreador Pants, proven it's worth again. No matter the bike size, speed, the asphalt is not going to care what you went down on.

Good to know the daughter is fine. As Greasy says, no point in spending even your own time fixing it (not an old antique etc), not worth even taking time to part it out cuz you are looking at a few $$ plus or minus if you sold it as versus parting it.
Best to see sell it as is. You can list it on MV & places like CL and other local online place.

Thanks baba, that seems to be the consensus. I'll post and see what response I get.

Glad she's OK, and some details on that gear might be useful and interesting.

Hey Jim,

She was just wearing some standard stuff....helmet, gloves, textile jacket with elbow and back pad, as well as some textile pants. Did what they were supposed to do.
