hey everyone! question. i have a gts 300, so for road trips i use highways (on, off, not the whole way) and this weekend might be hotter than normal...just wondering if theres any issues with riding long distances in hot weather? it will be about a 6 hr trip, with mixed highway and country roads along the way ... thanks!

Put on long pants or the radiator slits (the hot air coming out) will cook the hair on your legs.

No issues for the scoot. The fan will come on a bit quicker when at a standstill, that's all.

Road conditions are more of an issue with small-wheeled scooters. But yeah, air flow and coolant circulation are important. Check your coolant level! And don't forget yourself! Drink plenty of water!

What's the temp forecast?

Just curious, as "heatwave" in Mew England isn't the same as one in the southwest.

I've ridden in 110+ degrees. Just keep moving! And I try not to get behind semi's or other large vehicles that cut airflow.

^^Most definitely this ^^.

I recommend a cooling vest or, at minimum, a cooling towel to keep your core temp down. Cycle Gear has a vest for about $50 that will cool you for several hours when worn under a jacket. You will also dehydrate quickly because your sweat will evaporate as you ride. Drink twice as much as you think you should, pay attention to your urine output/color (pale good, dark or nonexistent, very bad), and how you feel. If you're even a little "off", you need to stop, drink, and rest somewhere cool.

I'm in the grips of the PNW heat wave and can personally attest that a hydration pack has been a game changer. Just having cool water to drink while riding makes it sooo much easier. It's a GTS so you'll be stopping regularly to fill the tank anyway - perfect time to fill 'er up with some fresh icewater.
