After a few months of owning my 2012 GTV300ie, I'm loving it. My only concern is the "retro-look" instrument cluster with no coolant-temp gauge as found on the GTS. I'm an "old-school" relic, and my thinking about warning lights is that they show two indications - "everything is all-right" and "too late".

I was on a ride with the local scooter club (Sky Island Riders) about 10 days ago and in the AZ heat the warning light never came on, and the fan only came on during extended stops (1-5 minutes), and it went out as soon as we started moving.

At one of the stops, one of the other riders mentioned a replacement instrument cluster that drops in to the GTV. This set of instruments duplicates the functionality of the current GTS, including coolant temp, trip odometer, etc.

Here is the product:

Does anyone have experience with this tool? Installation difficulty? Accuracy? Reliability?

That's an interesting replacement. I hear you regarding the lack of a temperature gauge. The fan on my GTV almost never comes on, which occasionally leads me to attacks of paranoia that the temperature sensor is broken. I wonder if, in the stock setup, the temperature light is set to come on before the engine is so hot that damage is imminent, in other words, when you would look at a temperature gauge and think, "hey, I better pull over."

Occasionally, I think about getting an auxiliary temperature gauge, but I haven't considered it enough to even think about how the temperature is measured with an after-market product.

I, too, would be interested to hear if anyone has had any experience with these. But, I don't think I would replace my speedometer - it's also a record of every mile I've traveled.

Hey, PBCoole, where in New Mexico are you located? Many years ago (1972) I lived in the Cuba/Gallina/Coyote area. Are you in the North?

I pm'd you, so as not to swerve the thread off topic and into the beauties of Northern New Mexico.

Ah, the advantages of my old GTS; a tach, coolant temperature gauge, and an ambient air temperature thermometer.
