New rear tire delivered! I'll let you know how long it lasts compared to the original City Grip. The tread looks a little different from the old one. (Sorry, I tried to reduce the size of the photo...)

I just had the same installed. I loved the original version, I expect this to perform the same or better.

I don't get how most members don't get longer mileage out of the tires. 3K is ridiculous unless you're driving it like a monkey or doing burnouts.
I (at +-100kg/220lbs) got 20K km (12.5K miles) out of the last set of CityGrips and the current set looks bound to be getting about the same. And this is a mix 1 up/2 up riding. In any case, with normal driving these tires should be able to go at least 15K km (approx 10K mi) without a hitch. |

Country roads often tend to be a more coarse surface which is probably gonna wear the tires out quicker. Think differrent size crushed rock in the bitumen - fine crush in the city, much bigger stone chips in the country |

Of course everybody's tire lifespan is going to be different in the same way that nobody is going to get identical fuel consumption figures, BUT 3Kmi/sub 5K km on a street tire as reported is way, way, way below the average.
And just for the record, I use my MP3 strictly as a work commuter tool logging just over 50K km each day 5 days a week through all 4 seasons consisting mostly of rough half broken concrete slabs and the rest freeway driving. So that would/should put me into the worst case use scenario using that logic. Granted, I rarely do full acceleration and/or braking as I am no hurry to being driven to the emergency room or morgue. I did my stupid motorcyle phase when I was young, and learned my lesson. Getting to my destination in 1 piece is 99% of the fun. |
