Nah either use it or lose it but the baggie will get sucked into the bellows, and that’s even worse!

Ok, I've got my Trail Tech installed... now what do I do? I can't program it and the instructions are TERRIBLE!

Right now, the gauge shows 276F max which I am assuming was the high temperature from my last run. How do I reset it to the current temperature for my next run. I've held down the button for 3 seconds and I've pushed it quickly and get a variety of readings... time of day, 12 or 24 hour clock, but not the current temperature, unless... in one mode I get 86 F with "HI" flashing. Is that what I want? Is there an easy-to-understand set of instructions somewhere that would help me?

Lucky Bear,

It's easy peasy, but the button is a bitch. If you hold it down for 5 seconds on the max temp it'll zero it out. Then if you push the button twice it'll bring you to current temperature

The thing only has three settings, current temp, time, max temp. The button though, is really difficult to know if you've pressed it or not. It took me a while to even see the damn button! Ha! Razz emoticon

You're on the right track...

Thanks QA

It resets the max temp automatically when you allow the bike to cool below 100 and then get it warm (over 100) next time. The newer ones don’t have the button on the front

Hey guys,
Finally got to road test the new CHT/tach/stashbox.
Diggin it.
Couple of questions:
Kept the crush washer on the plug. Is the torque spec the same? Keep thinking the copper sensor will get crushed soon, after changing a few plugs.
Rode pretty hard on a hot day and only got to 230 degrees. Is there a temp range one should expect to ride in? Sensor is engine side of the crush washer.

Can I eliminate this wire? Don't have a battery.

I like to shoot for 300°F as a steady state temperature wide open throttle. Also like to get cruise temperature in that range.

I've also found wrapping the copper part in heat shrink tubing changes my temperature. With the amount of air that the flywheel v moves over the head it was cooling my sensor.

Ray8 that's really slick. Nice work!

I ran mine up through the spare tire on my VNB.
I bailed out of my original setup.
Rode around enough with it to see it both doesn't match the vibe of the bike and too many people come up to me in parking lots, asking what the hell that can is.
Borrowed your idea!
Smashed the can flat and laminated it to 1/16 plate.

Had to make my own bracket. The only spare wheel brackets I could find cost more in shipping than the part.

Was about to order an 8" mod sticker, which would look great IMO. I blew a lot of hours (and $40 or so on Ebay) with that oil can so smashed it flat and done.
It's a 7 3/8" x 1/16" disk, btw.
Here's the before:
Uses same bolts that hold the spare wheel

That looks super-sharp, Ray. Nice n' subtle if you're not really looking at it, too.

BTW the 14mm spark plug sensor tore, as predicted.

Don't think think they're meant for tuned vintage Vespas, that need plug changes/inspection more than other vehicles.

Going to bolt it elsewhere.

I used an Allstate tire patch kit. Used sticky back Velcro to attach it to the leg shield. Keep my registration in the can.
