Hello
Is a 2008 Lance Vintage 150 any good? I also have the Vespa LX 150.

It reminds me of something... Welcome to MV from Latina, central Italy. The Lance is a clone of Honda Shadow and Aprilia Habana, models marketed in Italy from the year 2000 onwards for a short time. |

I seriously considered a Lance before purchasing my Liberty. I had a SYM CityCom 300i and had pretty good luck with it. Note that Lance and SYM are "essentially" the same. So why didn't I get the Lance? One, around my way the dealers are sloppy and not very reassuring. Look like chop shops ran by criminals. Second, parts support. For reference look up the Carter Brothers drama and their new importer. But I still recommend a used Lance or SYM over a no-name China scooter. Great quality scooters with sketchy support.

if it's sub 800 bucks, sure.
they're kind of a pain in the ass to work on, but all the hong-kong phooey parts fit and they're cheap. so if you don't mind hunting down parts and turning a wrench or throwing the whole thing out in a year or two then why not? |

The Lance Vintage in 2008 was built by Znen. A couple of years later the company moved to the SYM built Cali Classic and have continued to sell SYM built scooters since. They became the importer for SYM and formed Alliance Powersports selling Lance and SYM. Last year they began selling Znen scooters again under the Scootstar label. Like any Chinese scooter of 2008 quality was always a crap shoot. Generally Znen built scooters were okay but certainly not Brand name reliable.

Sure is pretty. Looks like another bike I know …
Easy to work on - and you’ll probably have to - but parts are plentiful. Carry a spare belt. And tools. I’m still running the original engine and (Kehin) carb at 10k+ miles, so I’ve gotten my money out of it, for sure. It won’t be your Vespa, so don’t have any illusions there. |
