Modern Vespa

Hello!

I want to paint my front spring. It looks like it's copper plated. Will Epoxy primer adhere to it or it needs some prep (other than soap and wax and grease remover)?

I think that's just painted on there.

I just painted a front spring. Like any paint project, it's all about the prep. I...

- cleaned it off with a wire wheel on my angle grinder;
- electrolysized it to get the rust I couldn't reach;
- cleaned it really well (ultrasonic cleaner, but whatever works for ya)
- hit it with ospho to galvanize and remove any rust I missed
- Cleaned it really well again
- Painted with two coats of rust removing self-etching primer
- Two coats of matte black

That was only a month ago, but it's holding up well thus far.

Better just media blast and done.
