I am curious about the aluminum brackets on top of the engine..
Does anyone know what the loops are for?

I remember that eye on my own MP3 500, I’d bet they are for hanging or holding the engine on the production line.

The average car engine has a stamped steel eye bolted to the top/front of the block or head for handling in the factory.

As an ex automotive production engineer I could see where casting the eye into the main block would even be a cost savings.

It looks like it would be near the center of gravity for the unit as well.

Thats my guess.
