Hello MV peeps
I purchased a used GTS 200 2006 a couple of years ago, one of the previous owners had installed some extra lighting? that required drilling 8-10 holes ranging about 25”, .17”, .40” in size into both front and rear polypropylene (PP) fenders/bumpers that are ugly and I want to fix (not replace).
I’ve looked online and found PP rods that can be purchased that will do the trick with a soldering iron and some Scooter West touch-up paint.
I’m wondering what others have done or if there are any other options out there. I’m in the Toronto area. Thanks
Front bumper showing 4 holes, it’s the same on the other side.

Back bumper showing more holes, some can be covered by ugly reflectors.

Truthfully, you’d be better off just replacing with color matched pieces.

The amount of materials, work and dedication to making that a decent job is tremendous.

If you need I’ve got a front fender.

I'm with greasy on this one. You could spend hours patching those holes and you'll still be able to see where they were when you've finished. Get new colour matched body parts. if you cannot source the original colored ones, get used ones and have them sprayed in your colour.

Hello Touring,
I appreciate your input on my query and if money was growing on a tree in my garden I would definitely just replace the parts, even with used ones! Used parts are probably easier to come by in the UK but there really aren’t that many Vespa drivers in the Toronto area, in fact there are only two shops that sell Vespas or parts. I end up purchasing parts from SIP in Germany or from a couple of retailers in the USA and once I factor in the exchange rate and duty even cheap options end up expensive.
Thanks. 😄

Clean the inside of the fender, and rough up the sides of the holes. Stick some duct tape behind the holes, fill with bondo, paint. Yes, I know bondo won't stick that well to the plastic, but if the holes are properly roughed up it'll stay in place quite happily.

By far the worst part of the job will be taking the fender off and putting it back on.

I filled the holes for the side reflectors on my GTS when I painted it but this holes were much smaller than yours.

I epoxy glued some coins to the back of the panels and filled the hole with Bondo.

I'm not sure this would work for you. The backing would have to be bigger and the Bondo might fall out or crack on the edges.

Good luck.

There is a post by somebody here in the projects subforum. It entails the use of a plastic filler product. I would not use Bondo unless there was a Bondo product meant for filling plastic.

per this post, there is a Liquid ABS product - project S -- a hotrod modern smallframe

This was not the post I'm thinking of, there is another one I believe. But you get the gist. Pretty simple, fill holes & sand then paint, good as new.

Have a similar problem. Previous owner cracked the fender and epoxied where it bolts in and attaches to the bike.
It under the pegs seems solid and is not visible so I decided to leave it.
But I did look into replacing them and maybe someday I will. Best value for me was

Fill those holes as advised by others. Be sure the fill is not proud of the good material. Buy some 3m black reflective vinyl. Cut it into nice rectangular pieces with slanted ends to cover the work and apply. Won't look too bad in the daylight, and will make you jump out at night.
