So I’ve been away from scooters for a few years but I’m looking to pick up a Lambretta.

It seems scoot.net is taken over by drug ads and scooterBBS is no longer.

Are there any other places that have a lot of for sale posts??

I know there is a classified section on here but like the address it’s mainly modern vespas haha (not that it should be anything else)

Just Hoping someone may be able to steer me in a direction.

Thanks!

scoot.net come for the good deals but stay for the drama! or buy some drugs. or mood rings. or magic spells.

anyway, if you can wade thru the drug ads and drama queens you’ll generally find what you need.

posting up a wanted ad will usually get good responses. just be sure who you buy from is throughly vetted. like ask around for a hot minute before dropping coin.

Thanks for the replies guys!! Much appreciated.

Don’t have a Facebook so I’ll look into that.

Been out of the scene for quite a while, if a name doesn’t ring a bell, I’ll be sure to ask around.

Guy at Planet Lambretta has some pretty outrageous prices haha but has a lot of stock.

Had some success with an ad on scoot.net - seems people still check it quite often.

just FYI the prices of vintage bikes has gone way up in the last few years. especially lambrettas.

basically you can't touch a complete bike for less than about 2500, and even those will either be shitty home done half ass restos or need some type of big time work.

stuffs out there but you gotta be beating the bricks and shaking the bushes every single day and ready with cash on hand to pull the trigger immediately.

good luck!

Just an update.

Scoot.net came through…

Just delivered today.

An 80s restoration, but still looks good.

Scoot.net is hilarious.

Someone is paying for hosting, but hasn't looked at it in years.

Glad you found something.

One of the bad things with the drug listing on scoot.net is the site only has 21/22 pages in which drug listings are on all of them but one. Eventually and quickly legit listing get pushed out and not available for viewing.

Yeah - I had serious doubts that posting a wanted ad would even be seen but I got a handful of replies.

I’m quite pleased with it.

Previous owner said he hadn’t started it in over a year.

** It's true, Scoot.net is a mess right now. Difficult to sell or buy there right now. Not much to be done but to wait that out.... I'm happy to see that there are some great scooters out there getting to the right people. One of these days I'll make the leap from Vespa and add a Lamby, one ...of...these...day

If it’s not a ad for drugs it’s 4 pages of old men arguing via scooter classified ads on the internet haha

Nonetheless it is still checked, so if anyone else out there can’t find what they need, try a wanted ad. - worked for me.

It might be time to make a new Scoot.net type thing, with a login.

It works so well. The free ads, and definitely people look at it.

The drug ads are a bad sign. Aside from being annoying, it's obvious that whoever owns it has completely forgotten about it. Meaning they might also let the domain or hosting lapse. And those things could get the site get a malware warning or the hosting could pull it.

I had to check that site, as never been there before... a few things I learnt;
Dunno if it's a good idea to buy mysterious white powders from Wuhan!
It's similar to craigslist.com.au (which is not used here)
Sadly, I couldn't find any used panties (unlike the numerous offerings on craigslist.com.au).
It's interesting to see people arguing and complaining about complainers

scoot.net isn't going anywhere from what I can tell. The domain was just renewed in June and it's directly hosted on a a /22, which is a pretty good-sized block of addresses these days unless it's an allocation you've had for a looong time.

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't running on a physical machine in the back of someone's data center. I'll dig a little more and see what else I can come up with when I have a little more time.

scoot.net is an Internet Treasure. I get all my love potions there!

I don’t know who owns/runs the site but it’s a small group of people who buy and sell old scooter. Someone’s gotta know him.

I havnt had a scooter or been all that involved in the scene for about 10 years. I made 2 phone calls and someone knew the guy I was buying this bike from (in another state).

A guy on the east coast of Canada I talked to about a bike knew a lot of the same people I did (I’m in California).

Kinda gotta think maybe some health issues possibly?

It’s been main foot traffic for scooters for probably over 15 years.

looks like some effort has been made to rebirth the site at a new URL: https://www.scootnet2.net/

I'm down - all props and eternal gratitude to the original Scoot.net for the service it provided. But I'm happy to reward a genuine effort to carry on that service+legacy without the trashola. This isn't like some money making scheme or something that's gonna get anyone fame... just some hombre who wants to give the rest of us a place to trade our shiz and I appreciate that

It makes me laugh. The spammer bots took over the stolen registry too, so the little wintow on the front page pulls things like this.

Indeed, it seems to be shaping up well. I wonder how long it will take for Dr. Wu’s House of Potions and Fine Lotions to start popping up with his fine pharmaceutical products. I could really use some quality hand cleaner.😆

I'm cross posting my facebook stuff at a slight discount on the new site to drive traffic. I wish there was a community standard of "no reply to ads posted" and a requirement for a valid email to post. That would go a long way,
