I was discharged after one night spent in a wheelchair (there were no free beds and stretchers ...) with acute pain in the abdomen: suspected pancreatitis ... But ... Luckily it turned out to be a severe irritation of the colon caused from the diet I'm doing.

Thank goodness you are ok Attila. Hoping you feel ok in a day or two. Take care!

My experience with diverticulitis
I had surgery to remove a small part of my colon about 15 years ago

I'm sensitive to the fats/oils/grease
In order from worst to best are beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish & vegetable
I'm able to tolerate more of the fats/oils from the end of the list than the beginning

Too much of any of it will irritate my colon, my version the irritation manifests as food moving through me at a high rate of speed within minutes to hours, depending on how rich the food is

I can eat some steak now & then, I still mostly work from the end of the list
Raw or uncooked veggies, shrimp, corn, nuts can be problematic
Chewing my food longer helps very much
Smaller meals helps
Less stress helps

Like Garthhh I "also" suffer from diverticulitis due to the numerous interventions on the pancreas to remove tumors (3) intestinal adhesions have formed which have haunted me for about thirty years. Do you think that in the last five years I have been in ER ten times and hospitalized four times ... My normal life is a parenthesis between one hospitalization and another.

Well, that puts it all in perspective. No words for that except to offer moral support and well wishes

How did I miss this one?! All the best to you and I hope you feel better and do not see the inside of a hospital for long time! My thoughts are with you and I'm sure it is not easy especially with what the last year and a bit has brought.

This time it seems that the problem (mistaken for yet another pancreatitis, same symptoms) was caused by a side effect of the diet I am doing to relieve myself for the hip replacement operation.
I have to do a food allergy test ...
The doctor's hypothesis is that by changing quantities and eliminating some foods from what I usually ate, the remaining ones exceeded the tolerance threshold of my intestine and triggered an acute inflammation of the colon. :?

Le Wife will commiserate with you right now: she's had more than her share of digestive disorders post-COVID, to the point where she got a CT scan last week, where a growth was discovered, and she got rushed for a sonogram. The Good News is that it's not the "big C"; the bad news is that it does require surgery (she sez: "I've had two kids already, those parts can go now"). But she dodged a cannonball, and so did you. And I'm seriously glad on both counts.

So, is this some "anti-Mediterranean" diet you've been on? This inquiring mind seriously wants to know!

Unfortunately yes ... It's the infamous "ketogenic diet".

"The ketogenic diet is a nutritional strategy based on the reduction of dietary carbohydrates, which "forces" the body to independently produce the glucose necessary for survival and to increase the energy consumption of the fats contained in the adipose tissue.
Ketogenic diet means "diet that produces ketone bodies" (a metabolic residue of energy production).

Regularly produced in minimal quantities and easily disposed of with urine and lung ventilation, ketone bodies reach a level above normal in the ketogenic diet. The unwanted excess of ketone bodies, responsible for the tendency to lower blood pH, is called ketosis.

Motor activity also affects, positively or negatively (depending on the case), on the condition of ketoacidosis.

The presence of ketone bodies in the blood exerts various effects on the organism; some are considered useful in the weight loss process, others are of the "collateral" type."

Much better yes ... But I had to change the foods in my diet a little. I started from 138 kg. and I dropped up to 121 kg. in three and a half months, not bad.
