Not sure if it's the same on yours, but on my 2009 MP3 250 there is a way to push and turn the key that will pop the trunk - it will be the opposite way that you turn to open the door for the gas tank.

At least this will tell you if it's an issue with the button or not.

I haven't taken my master key out of the safe in ages so I can't remember what it looks like, but the one on the left might be it. Definitely don't lose that, it's needed to make spare keys.
