Well my PX is 18 years old and has lived near the salty UK coast all its life. However, i cannot clearly understand why its fairing, mudguard, side panels and toolbox have gone a matt black when the rest of the frame has a shiny sheen to it. Im not particularly that bothered as its sort of got a more honest retro aged look to it; paint and chrome dont get you home. Ive heard from others too that this happened to theirs too? I went to inquire about having a respray and the chap said this wasnt uncommon and he would only have to do certain parts of the scooter as seen this many times. We used to have a joke about PX's in the 80's that if you bought a new one in Italy built on a friday afternoon, its paint would peel off. The suggestion being that the workers all too excited to finish early and get home and did half a paint job. I did buy a p200 new in the 80's and this was actually the case for me, paint flaked off on frame as thin as anything when i used a hose on it. Anybody experience the same? if you zoom my photo you can clearly see paint has matted.

I read a comment once from a Ferrari owner who said that, in the 80's, it seemed like the wind would chip the paint.

Lots of Italian road racing bicycles in the 80’s were the same. The thinnest of paint that didn’t adhere well.
