I'm a little tech challenged so I'm just trying to set up my account today. I'll be traveling for a few days but look forward to tapping into the communities real life experiences with some specific upgrades. Look forward to your thoughts.

Welcome! Tell us a bit about yourself. Your profile lets us know you’re from Northern California, and that you ride a 300. What else? New rider? New scoot? We need photos! 😁
Lots of great information and wonderful people on here. You’ve come to the right place. Safe travels! |

Welcome to the madhouse of MV, mythrpy, from a fellow Nor-Cal native. I live in the desert now but love to connect with people who still live there.

OK, about myself. Always had a bike form 1971-2011. Mom literally cried for a week, dad said, "He'll be fine". The "cafe racer" scene was big back then. Bought a Kawasaki Z1 in '73 with 90 stock HP and jettisoned most stock parts and rebuilt the engine to 110 HP rear wheel. I was an apt sport rider but never had the courage or the skill set to be a bonafide racer. I've owned a '70 Kawasaki 250 enduro and the '73 Z1, '71 Norton 750 Commando, Suzuki RM 250, '81 Ducati 900 SS, 4 Harleys, 2 BMW R100RS, Honda XR500R, and a '79 Triumph 750 Bonneville. My last bike was the '97 Road King. Twice in 2011 on the same twisty road in Occidental CA, I was almost hit by a couple of cars, the drivers of which were busy checking out their cell phones. I always told myself when riding a motorcycle stopped being fun, I'm done. Sold the Harley and surprisingly never missed it. So what changed? My wife and I went on a bus tour through Italy. Saw Vespas everywhere and thought, "Yeah, I could do this"! So to quote Michael Corleone, "Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in". Towards the end of the trip on the Amalfi Coast in the village of Positano two Vespas rode by me on a narrow street and I was sold. Came back, did some research regarding the rust issue, waisted enough time for the HPE engine version to arrive, and purchased a 2020 Sei Giorni. Discovered Scooter West and Robot's videos, and went to work 'blacking out" my scooter. I 'lurked" on this site to learn what I could and subscribed to Scootering magazine out of England. Not cheap, but a wonderful cover to cover read. Bikes, and now scooters have always provided me with a calming therapy. When each of my parents passed and when 09/11 occurred, I got on my bike and headed to the same spot on a bluff over San Gregorio Beach to pray and think. For years I tried to secure the personalized plate "MYTHRPY", but there were probably 2000 other riders with the same idea, so I chose it for my username. I can't begin to convey to you how much my scooter has provided me with a much needed escape from the whole of 2020. I'll try to attach 4 photos, but like I said, I'm not tech savvy. If it doesn't work out this time my wife will probably be able to help me in the future. Sorry for being a bit wordy. Ciao for now, Bill

Are you still near Occidental? Coleman Valley/Joy Road is a fun ride!
Riding up from The City to Cafe Aquatica and back is my favorite day trip so far. |

Thanks for the great introduction! I always find it interesting to see how folks found there way to this mode of transport.

Understand, I am the new guy. This is a response to mayorofnow's question to me. I do not know how to answer him directly like Guzzi Gal did. Her response showed mayorofnow's comments in a shaded box titled "mayor of now wrote". Please advise on how to do this.
To mayorofnow: I ride with a scooter group called the Post Mods Scooter Squad based out of Revolution Motors in Santa Rosa. I think we've taken advantage of most of the very cool road options out of Occidental. While some are a little bumpy, I love'm all. I looked up the roads you mentioned and will travel them to be sure. Thanks for the tip! |

It's the multiple quotes that get me.... Then I always hit "Preview" to be sure I didn't delete out any required mechanical bits. |
