anyone every hear of this ? bike is late model bv350 with ecu integral to throttle body. has abs but guy claims bike was a municipal (police issue) and didnt have immobilizer
It's certainly possible jerry. The Police buy their bikes at dirt cheap prices and Piaggio may well reduce the cost of them by doing that. Although it does sound a little surprising.
somebody took the chip from a key and taped it to the aerial / sensor inside the front of the bike.
second thought:
why would the police not want an immobilizer? would it be cheaper? I doubt noticeably. it's not like they are not going to use keys so why not normal keys?
I was interested in the ecu until I found his asking price of 500. very skeptical as he didnt have the ignition barrel and keys but pretty much the whole bike but no plastics. I myself had to think what advantage this would have for me and come up empty. no advantage. I want immobilizer on my bikes. I did find article from 2004 where they purchase 300 bikes. I guess the police figured no one is gonna steal a police bike. cause this would make it terribly easy to do so. and that is likely exactly what the parts bike is.
