Ok so what's the deal on these clutch cable ends. The old one has what looks like a top hat but it doesn't seem to want to come apart. The new one is next to it. Do I have the wrong cable or do I need a new top hat or should I just keep trying to get the old one off?

Kinda glad the owatrol is slow.
New clutch inner and outer. New gear inners. New rear brake inner and outer. Choke cable looks ok. Throttle inner is next. ![]() |

I will get it moving and do a test run or two but the front fork rebuild will be soon because the front brake has missing parts at the moment.

Well, depending on how you look at it, it's pretty normal to have an early SIP Road (looks like that's what was on the bike?) sound like that after the internal separator that acts as a baffle breaks off.
I don't think it affects performance, but it does increase the noise level. Someone else may know better than I do about that, though. As a general rule, exhausts aren't supposed to have any moving parts or make noise other then whatever the motor puts through them. ![]() I wouldn't run the SITO unless you have no other options, but it's easy to swap them out and see which you like better, too. |

Oooh...if you can stand the noise, either of those should be a better option if you can get your port timings up to like 125 TD. What's the cylinder on this thing again?
I have one of those Pinasco's like on the left that exmayor gave me for my P200, but I've been too busy re-re-re-splitting the GL's Stella (SteGLla? GeLla? Gee-Ella? Jello? Nah, too rape-y, that last one) cases to do anything with it. What's the pipe on the right? A right-y JL? It could be interesting, too. |

With a garden hose in the exhaust side, water does run through the Sito. I think it's the best fit of the bunch as far as being stock-ish, because the broken one probably doesn't count. I can be persuaded to go for one of the expansions, but I don't know their tuning.

The cylinder is a bone stock piaggio 150. It's probably not a great match for those expansions.

Sounds like you best bet is to try and kill the Sito with fire, followed by getting some good earplugs.

The expansion on the right is a polini.

I think I'd try the black Polini and then one of the boxes, but that assumes you can get port timings high enough for it. Otherwise, just go with one of the boxes.
You're sticking with the 57mm crank, right? So no room for playing with packers. |

yeah it's the 57mm crank. nothing fancy on this build. if the bike hangs around for any length of time, it could get fancier. It's really a matter of whether this engine stays with the bike or comes to the VBB.
I'm thinking to clean up and try the Shito... It was on the Stella engine with the Malossi top end as I found it. |

Sito on. Rear brake cable installed, clutch cable installed. Throttle cable installed. Gear cable holder installed to engine (requiring dremel work for improper hole location). Gear cables installed. Ready for gear oil and premix.... If only I had a squeeze bottle - DOH!

Get a ketchup squeeze bottle at the grocery store/target/walmart. I use one that originally held salad dressing.
(It was cheaper to buy the salad dressing and pour it out than to buy an empty bottle. Go figure.) |

I'm a bit stumped. It won't rev out. I started with the sito at 140ac, e3 atomizer, 100 main jet. Timing verified at 21 degrees. I dropped all the way to 92 but no love. Assuming the Sito was the problem I plopped the polini pipe on but not much difference.

On the electrical front, most everything works. I need a brake switch it seems, as it is intermittent at the wire at the tail lamp, so not a bulb or housing issue. Turn signals work except the left rear, that cowl is getting replaced anyway and I saw power at the pin when I did my initial checkout, so I think it will be fine. The headlamp, pilot, and brights work. The switches work. Not bad.
Now to get it running right…. |

The CDI and stator were condition unknown from the PX. This is my suspicion now that the usual suspects seem ok (compression, timing, jetting).

I guess I'm not the only one stumped, no ideas?
I'm gonna try my 24.24 carb today to see if it's a carb issue. If it's the same, probably it's ignition. The timing light was showing good at low speeds but kind of disappears at higher ones. |
