Lesson learned, never cut new rubber to length using the old one as a guide. My outers are 1/2" short. I put the gap at the back and cut some filler from the old ones. It will be under the cowl anyway. May fill with RTV. Was able to reuse the rubber on the 4 inner rails.
I'd cut new outers but it seems unnecessary. |

Don't assume a direct line of cause and effect between the sacrifice and the outcome. If it was that easy, anyone could transform a willingness to get bloody into a beautiful scooter.

Any ideas on smoothing this out for a sticker? I want the smallest repair possible, and it is getting covered.

What happened to that poor legshield?
Is that a tear in the sheet metal or cracked bondo? If it's torn metal, tape it up with a couple layers of masking tape and hammer it down. If it's bondo, all I can think of is to chip it off, then lay a new patch over it before you sticker it. |

As soon as you hit it with the wheel, you may find that a big chunk peels off, so be ready for that. Honestly, though, it's a matter of "when," not "if" that's going to happen, so might as well deal with it now. |

What does the other side look like? Bondo usually cracks like that if it's deep or if moisture gets behind it.
No worries though. I get to the bottom of stuff like that if it's something that will get worse. I don't think that's the case here. I have to remove the floor rails to deal with some rust on the P200. I have the rivets but using screws or small stainless bolts with self locking nuts seems to make more sense. Your ride is looking good. |

I'm gonna use acorn nuts on the visible screws. I'm still half feeling guilty I didn't use pop rivets at the least, but I thought it would be nice if more floor repairs come up.

Dig everything about it. Christopher - Stickers = hard to find these days as they haven't been made in a few years. I'll look and see if I have any left.

The cowls are definitely coming, was working front to back. I still have some chrome bits to go on at the end as well. The painting requires strategic use of vacation days after primer and filler are complete. The Mrs. gets nauseous at even a hint of spray paint. Primer dissipates fast and can usually happen outside quickly.

Need to find a few washers and bolts, and clean up the chrome a bit. Fits in perfectly.
I have several rear racks to keep the bling going. |
