Here's an original 8" stand from my parts stash.

Legs are angled. Measures 10" from top of bar to bottom of boot.

So the floor rail rubber - it looks better but doesn't seem like I will be able to slide it in from the ends like a p series. Do I have to wedge this in?? Gonna be a tight fit.

If you can get the rubber strips a little warm by putting them out in the sun and spraying some soapy water on the rails, they go in pretty easy.

I had to press the rubber into the rails on my VBB. it sucked.

Yeah, with a small screwdriver. Heat and 303 protectant are your friends....

No sliding required for me, nor any moisture . I found that if it's the correct width for the rails, you can simply squeeze it and push it down into the rail, starting at one end and going along carefully to the other end . A flat bladed screwdriver gently prying it in can help.

I took a quick try tonight and it's definitely going to need heat. I'm thinking hot water and murphy's oil soap in a bucket may do it. Will try tomorrow.

There's probably 100 ways to skin a cat, but i used silicone aerosol spray...along with a heat gun. My only pro tip is to push the rubber really hard against the end caps. If you don't, they could eventually shrink and leave an unsightly gap.

Yeah… those rubbers are a straight PITA. I use a plastic trim tool instead of a screwdriver. Less blood and fewer rips in the rubber too.

In the end, the heat gun and a dull screwdriver did most of the work. A soak on hot water preps the rubber but doesn't stay hot long. It's just patience, heat, and something not sharp to push it in.

Stand fitting. The spring tab kept the stand from retracting well. After dremel work, all good. Used the floor reinforcement like on the px.

Anyone have a diagram for this 12v conversion harness? It makes no sense because the pigtail for the regulator has only 2 wires, not 3. The blue appears to be the power for everything, it goes to the switch and the horn. But it also goes direct to the stator, so it can't regulate.

The bag says "shakun wiring harnesses". I think it's from scooter works.

I think if I regulate the blue off the stator before it touches this harness, it will work.

That means the regulator pigtail on the harness will be unused.

I found it. it seems you can use the regulator on the end of the trail as well as the beginning. did not know that, but I think it makes sense.

I will have to modify some, I'm running a 12v conversion points stator, but the harness is correct here. I do have these parts to run this bajaj stator, but I hear such bad reviews on them that I was thinking a regular points stator with 12v ac output conversion would be more reliable.

Looks great! I did a bit of both on my 200. In the curved parts, it was easier to lever it in.

The worst of the fishing is over. I went from the top, and out the horn, then pulled it from the bottom. The harness had tape at the junctions that would never make it through the slot. It had to go…

so there's this metal tube that seems to want to hold the wires for the tail light, but it is clogged inside. however, there are many holes in the tail light area. should I try something to free up that tube? ideas?

zero degree tip on a high power pressure washer? At least that's what i used on my rusty VB1 project. But that the first thing i did when i bought the rusty frame. You might be a little too far along with body and paint to get away with that.

Correct option is to clear out the tube. Then you can deal with the PITA that is getting the tail & brake light wiring pulled back though it.

I pushed some old wiring harness out with a cable inner and even got it through but was not able to fish even one of the three wires all the way through the tube. There is an extra hole in the tunnel that says maybe be someone else gave up on the tube in the past. I have some ideas.

I did get the brake switch and horn wires fished.

Getting three wires (brake, tail, ground) through that tube is a miserable task. And you'll never do it with cable sheathing on them. Just ground to the frame if you need to.

I'm thinking mini harness and attach with bullet connectors in the frame. If that won't work, same but split loom outside the tube and zip tied to it.

Easier to feed from the tail than the top of tube in the frame.

Any way you could get a coat hanger in the tube? Straighten it out, use the wavy end and put it in a drill. Or you could just skip the whole tube thing.

Rails look great man! Tasty.

On the taillight wires: I ran a wire coat hanger up the tail light tube. When I hit a clog I attached a drill bit and gave it some "what-for".

I eventually got the wire through. Took the sheath off the taillight wires and taped them to the fish and pulled them through. Was a total PITA.

My 59 Allstate could handle all three wires, my 62 could not. So I just ground the tail light to a glovebox cowl screw under the tank and fished the other two to the tail light. Works fine. That tube is barely big enough for two wires let alone a damn third!
