Agreed. I had one on a Super and while it is part of the iconic look, I could not get along with it. As it pivots at the front, when you hit a bump, the back end drops down and stretches out your back. Normally, this isn't all that bad for most, but with my wonky back, it was a definite no-go. I sold it off and replaced with a bench seat.

I don't have an issue with how saddle seats ride, but when you're 6'2", they're a solid no-go, regardless of how I might feel about them.

Have you tried backing out the nut under the seat?
Idk if this will help much/make it wonky but free to try.

It's pretty close to a flat foot, not uncomfortable. Still a smidge lower than my GTS, totally manageable, just surprising.

First start? Nope. No spark at plug. Low tension lead to case gives no sparks either. It's not grounded out by the loom, already checked.

This flywheel doesn't want to come back off either. Going to be one of those deals….

Pointers on diagnosing the no spark at coil lead welcomed. I see the points opening and I timed it when I built it. What should I check?

A trip to harbor freight for a 2 jaw puller set sorts the resistant flywheel.

So there's no resistance between this post that has the coil and condenser connections. It's plastic isolated, so that seems wrong.

There's no resistance across the coil.

None of that changes when I open the points.

The points and condenser are new.

Is my coil suspect?

Is there a ground that goes from the stator to the coil? Asking because every time I had electrical problems in the past on these old scoots it usually came down to a lousy ground. Sorry I can't help more.

Test results, stator off bike.

Capacitor yellow to red lead = 0.3 ohm and does not climb like MJRally says it should. The capacitor is not shorted to the plate.

Lt ignition coil shows no continuity across leads. Neither lead is shorted to the plate.

The points show continuity from the body to the isolated post until they open (seems good).

Depends what post you have. Most are M8 but original on that probably M7.
Scooter's looking impressive. Certainly not kajiit junk anymore.

Does that flywheel have a CDI pick up? Electronic conversion might be the better choice.

Would an m8 seat post work with bench seats like sprint, etc? My rivnut set doesn't have m7. If it will not, I'm better off leaving a hole than putting an m8 rivnut.

I think I looked for m7 rivnuts fir the small frame and failed.

so today I :
-mounted the cowls, it was fussy with the rubber trim, made me redo it several times
-tapped the stripped out headlamp hole to m5, worked fine
-replaced a mudguard bolt that was too long and hitting the spring
-made my order for trying to fix the stator (I guessed and ordered LT coil and condenser).
-found and ordered m7 rivnuts to fix the seat post hole

My spring is the OG spring. If you look closely, you can see a little of the old blue paint from where my father-in-law didn't remove it to paint.
