agreed that's the fast and correct path
however, finances say no - I spent that money on the vape....
so no going whole hog for now.

Replacing an electrical system on a Vespa is like buying a new fridge. As long as the old harvest gold unit keeps chugging away, I'm happy with it. French doors, an ice maker and WiFi connectivity will never get me excited about spending money on it. But when it shits the bed during a July heat wave while you're away in Europe…
No fun when you get everything going and the electrical system holds you back. I guess you can go cheap if you are good with electronics and live next door to the last Radio Shack on earth (RIP Radio Shack). I didn't get a Vape unit but the stator and trail tech regulator I bought are probably approaching the same money. If the flywheel is demagnetized, then probably dead even. There is the fucking around factor too which adds $$ unless you really like that sort of red hot multimeter action. These scooters are money pits like any other old vehicle. If you plug a money leak one place, there will surely be a bigger one somewhere else. I think you've done good on this project. Nice clean oldie and an honest 50+ mph on an old dual port is no small feat. The constant sucking force that scooters exert will soon dislodge the necessary wad of cash for the go faster bits. Trust the suck. It is a relentless force.

OK if I do the SIP road - is there any point to pulling off the cylinder and raising the exhaust port 1-2mm? I have another 2 port top end, so it's really no risk other than just getting it sealed back up again. Once I go to the effort to pull the exhaust, it's only a bit further to try. Maybe just a waste of time though.

I would think raising it and widening it a bit couldn't hurt. But I'm no expert, more a spectator wanting to live and learn vicariously through your trials and errors.

I thought it was just prove you have the cajones to do 60 on 8's, but I will strive to earn it on flat ground as well at some point.

Fine. I ordered the exhaust.
I have 2 friends locally offering to give me a 20.20. So I don't need to buy that. It's a start. |

Stadium mirror - not so useful but looks badass. Vibration renders it kinda useless even once it's pointed correctly.
