ET4 exhaust too close to wheel?

Hello. First time post.
During Covid, I got hooked on Robot's videos and bought a 2005 et4 with 8K miles that was maintained by his shop. I noticed the rear wheel looks lightly toasted near the muffler as I changed tires. After I picked up a missing plastic hub-nut cap from VM, there isn't much room for it. Nothing appears bent or damaged. Is this normal and do the plastic caps melt?

It wasn’t missing, there’s not supposed to be one on there.

But yes, the fit is extremely tight. If somebody did put one on there it’d look all roached out.

Hub nut cap should be metal and not plastic. Two part codes that fit (Ø36mm), 092517 & 1C000523…
