Hi all! Sorry if this has been covered before. I just got a 1980 p200e. It runs great and has some awesome DASMI aftermarket parts that were installed at the dealership when the scooter was originally purchased. It runs like a top and is in decent shape cosmetically. Needs a little work yet but it’s a keeper!

The steering column and glove box keys are long lost though. Can anyone recommend the best version of replacing it?

You just need this.

This is Scooter Mercato, but any shop with vintage parts should have it.
https://www.scootermercato.com/Scooter-Parts/Locks/184860

It has the locks for the glovebox, steering, and seat, with one key.

For the steering, you have to drill out the old lock.

Welcome to MV Bizi

Thanks for this info Hjo. I've got to do this to my 79P and 62 Allstate. Just steering columns for mine though.

Welcome Bizibetiko!

Good one with the lock links Hjo. I need this for my '79 Patina200E project. I didn't know you could by a matched set of locks, thought it was just individuals; so this is very helpful.

Ah! I read the thread. Yea that fender is weird. Af. The touring seat is kinda gross but the stock seat came in a plastic bag and has never been ridden on. It also came with 5 wheels, 5 tires ( only three are new, a new battery, the stock faring, a never used still in the bag slipstreamer fairing a gigantic top case, and insulated slip on handlebar covers for your handsies. There is also a mod that has a line in to the battery with a solar panel to charge it mounted on the back rest. I’m guessing original owner was doing some long distance riding. It looks like everything was installed at the chicago dealership except that space helmet of a fender But I didn’t get the steering lock key or glove box key. I paid 1500. Did I get hosed?

omg. $1500 is great deal!

Those accessories are all original from the short-lived Vespa of America from the era. DASMI: Discount Scooter and Moped Accessories Inc.

Definitely worth saving, or I'm sure there is someone who would want them.

One thing. Looks like your front wheel is on backwards. The thin side goes out.

You got an excellent deal for that scooter. You could peel off and resell those DASMI bits for a portion of that back, if you wanted to. I love burgundy P's. Good score and good luck!

Good deal for a running p2. Thank the funky front fender for that one! Probably helped scare off potential buyers at higher prices.

A local scooter shop had the locks i needed! When I drilled out the lock and opens the glove box I found new cables and clamps that were just ordered in June. But delivered to someone other than who I bought it from. So from the time it was posted til now that bike has been sold twice. I intend to ride it though.

Anyone remember what the asking price was in the first ad?
