I finished up the SCBR 2021 on the same set of CG 2 that I started with. My GPS had 4503 miles in 10 days of which 250 miles were dirt/gravel. I rode all segments and got all but one Bonus Photo so I pretty much followed the route as laid out by the organizers.

Here is a pic of the rear tire at the finish.

it was a 2006 Vespa GTS 250ie with about 13k miles on it at start. Tires were mounted prior to trailering to Bar Harbor and had <200 miles from riding around Bar Harbor.

Congrats on an impressive finish! It was fun following along. I have been impressed with the City Grips - looks like yours held up well, with tread to spare.

Thanks so much for this quick report, wbdvt - and serious props and congratulations to both you and all your fellow Cannonballers! your ongoing adventures and exploits were and have been both entertaining and really inspiring to myself and to many others here. I especially appreciate hearing about the City Grip 2's - because I just bought myself a pair of CG2's to replace the well-worn older tires on my older GTV - and though I've only ridden a few hundred miles on mine so far, they have a way of gripping the road which inspires confidence.

Congrats again on finishing the SCBR 2021!!!!

Congratulations and thanks for the report! Kind of nice that you didn't have to do a tire swap along the way....plenty of other things to deal with.

Well-done! Clap emoticon Clap emoticon

Remember that although it was a lot of miles at WOT the temps were for the most part either relatively cool or wet or both. I think this was key to keeping tire wear to a minimum. None of the people in my group had to replace tires. Most were CG2 V1's IIRC.

The only place I saw or heard people consistently having issues was with thick tar snakes in the Snowy Range. Everybody, regardless of tire had issues with those.

Excellent news about the CG2's. I also have just fitted CG2 to the rear of my 300GTS. The reports about the CG2 are pretty good so far and they do seem to last longer than the CG1. Thanks for posting.

Very encouraging as I run City Grips on my 2006 GTS 250ie with over 13k miles.

That tire still looks good.

Maybe you can ride it home.

I am now a little disappointed with my Pirelli Angel purchase.

I second the praise for City Grip 2's longevity. My front tire was a CG2 this run, in 2018 I ran a CG up front. The lack of wear between 2021 and 2018 was quite noticeable. Total mileage for the trip was 5,976.

Rear tire was a Dark Side and received a performance and wear rating of EXCELLENT. But that's a story for another thread.

If I was to ride just the course, I think that CG2's on both front and back would have made it.

I've got about 5000 miles on my CGs and they still have a ton of riding in them. When it's time to replace them, I'll put on CG2s.

I am flying home from Wisconsin and had just seen the GotMojo post while on a three hour layover in Atlanta.

Looks like Iā€™m good!

On the flight from Madison, I sat next to a young woman who was returning from military reserve training. She was also working on a PhD from Emory. We talked through the two hour flight. Maybe she was just humoring this old man, but it sure was entertaining for me. She had gotten married four weeks ago. Then two and a half weeks of service. I am sure that she was happy to get home.

Are those pairs for your GT 200'S? Did you get a discount?šŸ˜

Max,

I bought them from Revzilla.

No discount, but they were reasonably priced.

I need one set for the Zuma.

The other two to have for replacing tires in the next year.

I have four extra rims, so I can keep new, mounted tires handy.

I had City Grip 2s on my 2019 GTS 300. While I ended up out with about 2,000 miles on them due to the melted wiring harness (note any change in exhaust sound check for leaks immediately, do not make a note to check end of day). So while I cannot attest to longevity they handledxbetter in the wet than the original CG and Heideneaus I've previously run.

I did the SCBR with CG 2s mounted front and rear on my 2010 GTS and my tire wear was consistent with what Barry has reported, a ride partner ran them on his 2009 BV250 and had no problems either.
I started with about 300 miles on them.
