Greetings All. I was on the forums regularly several years and wasn’t riding much for a while and kinda just faded away. Anyway, hello again!

As the title indicates, neither left side turn signal lights function on my ‘09 GTS. I did the usual replace both bulbs, check the fuses and other basics. I’ve removed the horn cover/under the seat and traced the wires but I’m not sure what should be my next step.

I’ve searched here and online but can’t quite find the exact issue on this particular model.

Could some kind soul tell me what to check next and how to do so?

Thanks in advance.

Almost certainly it's the switch that's got dirty inside. Spray some contact cleaner in there and give the switch a good work-over. If it's still bad, replace the switch.

This is the thumb switch, rather than an internal switch, correct? If so, do I need to remove the handlebar/headlight assembly to clean it or can i just spray the cleaner into the gaps of the thumb switch? Thanks

Just spray the cleaner in around the rocker switch then rock the switch off and on a few dozen times or until you get sick of doing it. Just give the switch a good work out.

Thanks guys. Got some contact cleaner and sprayed it in both sides a few times and worked the switch. The markers finally started to flash normally (yeah!), then started blinking rapidly. So I let it blink for a while and then rocked the switch to the right to disengage. Now it won’t flash again (boo!). I’ve repeated the steps a few times to no avail. Is this an indication that the switch is bad? It’s no biggie to order a new one, just trying to save work/downtime.

The blinking rapidly happens when just one of the bulbs is disconnected or blown. I bet one of them, probably the rear, needs the bulb contacts cleaning.

Order that switch.

You can use hand signals until it arrives. Or just do as the cagers do, and forgo signalling at all.
